It’s more fun and it’s faster.
My friend and i got a 2v2 on punisher brawl and it was some of the most fun we’ve had playing hots. So glad they brought these back.
I logged back in just to say “YES!!!”
yeah but it isn’t escape from baraxis outpost
so it is inferior in every way
Oof… it’s waaaaaaaaaay less fun.
Why do you feel it’s less fun?
Because the 50 crystal power-up is OP, which it’s supposed to be, and that’s fine, but the games are much faster paced.
HotS is balanced around matches lasting until level 20+, with a lot of heroes getting power boosts at 16 and 20. ARAM lengths are perfectly in line with this balance, along with QM/Ranked lengths.
The 50 crystal gimmick is fun for a game or two, but gets old very fast.
It’s clearly not a very popular mode. I just joined a Brawl (240s wait) and after the long wait, my team is 4 AI and the other team is 4 AI. So, only 2 people queued for it in the past 4 minutes.
Yeah, that’s actually what I like about it.
HotS is not balanced around ARAM at all. I don’t think this makes a difference. And they designed the game knowing full well that a lot of games wouldn’t make it to 20.
The effect is the same for both teams, and it rewards players who aren’t constantly suiciding. Can’t say it’s gotten old for me.
Yes, that’s because human psychology reasons. People are given a free chest for 3 games, so after 3 games they feel like the “value” is lost, and they no longer keep playing.
ARAM doesn’t give you anything, so there’s no expectation, and no minimum required games to get something, so people keep playing because they don’t feel like they’ve already fulfilled a requirement.
It’s even more obvious with this brawl because it’s almost identical to ARAM. Minus the games that drag on.
When ARAM was a regular brawl, it would also drop off when most players had gotten their chest. Now it’s stable. Ironically, when you don’t give people anything for performing something, they just do it for the enjoyment.
Personally, I think they should remove the chest for all brawls.
Nah, ARAM simply awards more coins and experience than Mineral Madness. You don’t even get EXP for winning in the latter, plus you get 10 coins fewer at the base level.
Yeah, I understand that. And clearly most people don’t like it or there wouldn’t 5 minute queues during peak hours that time out and finally start with 1 human and 8 AI’s.
I never said HotS was balanced around ARAM. I was clearly saying that heroes were balanced around reaching level 20.
It’s cool that you enjoy it. That’s your opinion. Most people don’t. Not sure why you’re even debating this. Some people like it, but clearly most people don’t (5 min queues vs 8 AI).
This is nonsense.
At this point in time, very few people play this game for the chests. They play the game because they enjoy it. If they enjoyed this Brawl more than ARAM or QM, they’d keep playing it.
This brawl is not almost identical to ARAM. The 50-mineral/crystal gimmick just isn’t that fun, and it’s the same gimmick every game.
I played this brawl with several different friends (5 or 6) and none of us liked it. They played it once to check it out, but every one of them wanted to quit after 1 match and didn’t even want to play 2 more games for the chest, so we switched to ARAM or QM.
Make all the excuses you want, but most people couldn’t care less about the chests and if people actually liked this Brawl there wouldn’t be 5 minute waits to play with 1 other human.
The average wait time for ARAM games is oftentimes around 15 seconds. That means there’s has to be at least ~800-1000 players in ARAM queue or games for the queue times to be that low.
20 min avg game time including loading screen and picks, 10 players/game, queue times 15 sec
4 games/min = 40 players * 20 min game = 800 players minimum (probably over 1000)
The fact that you have 5-minute waits for a 15-minute Brawl against 1 person probably means that there’s times when there’s less than 10 people in the queue/games.
I don’t believe it is. One of the counters to late game heroes is precicely to macro in order to end the game quickly pre 20 so they never reach critical mass. There are certain talents that players only pick when they reach 20 while pushing for core, and otherwise are ignored. If the game was balanced around reaching 20, they would have removed them.
Also, they created power spikes at 13 and 16 for several heroes in order to be able to close games pre 20. But I’m not sure I completely understand what you mean when you say “Balanced around reaching 20” Could you give an example?
How did you determine “most people” ?
This has been proven several times while the game had more support and brawls were still around. So it is the opposite of non-sense. If you were correct, the brawls would be as dead in the first few days they are loaded as they are afterwards. But it’s clearly not the case. So if people don’t care about the chest, how do you explain the sudden drop?
Nothing you said after the first sentence shows how it’s not almost identical. I’m not sure what your point was.
Again, then why are the queues faster in the first few days?
Yes, you do get xp. In my case I got a 25 gold difference. But honestly I don’t really care about gold.
Though neither games were very long, the ARAM one was 9 minutes.
Your logic is terrible.
Some people do play them for the chests, which means there would be more people playing in the first few days.
Also, no one has played these Brawls in years and some have never played them. A lot of people forget what a lot of them are. Some were popular (eg - Stitches Pull Party) and others weren’t (eg - Mario Kart Race we had a month ago).
Once again, if people actually really liked this current Brawl, it wouldn’t be dead. Long queue times to play with/against AI proves you’re wrong.
I’m done with this conversation because you’re just making up nonsense with no evidence when there’s actually massive evidence to the contrary (long queue times and AI players).
jokes on you, a good 80% of my ARAM games end pre-16 with one or the other side having a crushing victory, discounting any of the leaver stuff
Jokes on you… I just looked you up on heroesprofile and roughly 80% of your ARAM matches show you picked a level 20 talent.
Jokes on both of us, this account has been *cough inactive for a while
guys i think there’s some sorta joke afoot
You both make good points, and all we can do is speculate based on our own experiences, unless the Janitor decides to weigh in on the matter with hard data, which would be a shock.
My personal experience with brawls so far, is if I don’t play them in the first couple of days, I find it very difficult to find a match, and I’m usually placed with AI. I’m not sure if the chest is an enticement for players, or if simply some people enjoy some brawls more than others.
Brawls like Rocket Racing, IMO, aren’t interesting enough to encourage repeat play, and I’d be curious to see how “Escape from Braxis” performs, as it is always highly requested on the forums and Reddit.
Give the masses what they demand, and watch them curse you.
