There is a little exploit that is now commonplace, where people “whisper” the members of the other team to see what their favored hero’s are so they can snipe them. Put an end to it, it’s BS.
Sounds like strategy to me.
A draft should be based on playing what a team needs, not your favorite hero.
Learn a few more heroes and move on.
how does that even happen? your in the middle of draft…
- how do they know who to whisper (no nameplates?)
- why the hell would you tell some rando your next pick?
im sorry, but im really salty right now and i literally just dont understand the words on my screen…
Should be able to see enemy names in drafts now.
What you can do is:
/w (and the person’s name)
have it ready as if you’re going to whisper them but don’t say anything. You can right click their name and open their profile.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmnah. Its a bug that needs to go. If you see someone’s name is “Jamuro” that’s signal enough that you either ban Samuro or take the chance he’s just a poser. Besides that it’s stupid to be able to automatically remove any enemy’s best tools against you, this is a game, not literal warfare. If I wanted to self-sacrifice and pick heroes totally irrespective of my own preferences or strengths ‘for the team’ maybe I would stop playing video games. However, I am playing video games, and my name is Jamuro, I onetrick Samuro, get ready to get down
- there are nameplates…
- right click: “View Profile”
- you are ragnaros now apparently according to forums
ugh… im sorry i just need to get away from this game for a while. ill leave my post so you all can chuckle at my expense…
Whoa he IS ragnaros now. FEAR NOT BROTHER, in your hour of darkness sitting on the floor I offer you my hand so that you may stand again.
100% backing you on going for a walk somewhere, and enjoying some healthy food and taking some you time. Long, thoughtful bath… Moving your body to some good music that gets your soul moving the deep way. Meditating. It’s all better than stewing in negative emotions coming off of some bad games, whatever the causes may be. Restore your faith in humanity. Restore your faith in yourself alright we’re getting a little carried away here but you know what I mean
That’s the whole point of ranked games lol.
You want to undermine your opponent’s success while increasing your chances. It’s why a meta exists.
Edit: There’s only 3 bans, and there are 5 people in teams. If your favorite got banned. chances are your second favorite one wont.
It’s fine and dandy to one trick and play just for fun, but not in ranked.
I love Nova and have nearly 900 games played as her. Am I gonna play her in ranked? Definitely not.
one word:
okay second word:
okay nevermind these previews are fundamentally unsatisfying. Point being, while it’s fine and dandy to try harder in ranked than it is in unranked modes, it doesn’t justify being able to target-ban someone on-sight by virtue of being able to click their profile. In the pro scene, it makes sense, because scrims reveal what teams are working with and you can strategically cross out a few possibilities of what they run with bans, or stop them from abusing Medivh etc.
Most onetricks do play multiple heroes and are fine being banned out but when it’s SO BRAINLESS and consistent to ban someone out, why even bother playing? Especially heroes like Samuro or Illidan who take a lot of practice, what is the point of playing if it’s as easy as rightclicking a nameplate to remove that possibility from the game
I think you missed the point of the OP.
I probably did lol.
All in all though, it hardly feels like a bug.
Player’s profiles are public info in the game anyway.
No. They removed the ability of players to see enemy player’s profiles. You can only see your allies’.
If people can get around that, it is indeed a bug. Though it should be reported in the bugs forum.
They changed it a while back to where you can see it. ![]()
Yes, you can see enemy player names. Not their profiles.
which is why you use their name to pretend to whisper them, and then right click their name on the whisper window. This has been a thing for a long time.
It doesn’t work tho unless you are in same chat, played previously with them or they are on your friendslist. Hopefully they will bring the ability to directly check their profile soon.
Do you think it’s likely that Blizzard purposely stopped us from accessing enemies’ profile and then let us go around that by whispering?
Why block their profiles in the first place if the intent was for it to be visible?
it is not uncommon most of the players will be in General ENblabla so you’ll be able to whisper them, could try the option not to accept whispers from non-friends from game settings, that might work
Yes, this strategy is a little cheesy and doesn’t deserve to be a feature. I’m not saying I don’t do it often, but it shouldn’t be in this game.
I keep saying Gazlowe, but never see him banned =(
