So I’ve been silenced for the first time in almost 9000 games. That’s fine. Obviously I deserved it. My problem here is what’s the point in silencing people if you’re going to intentionally match that player up with people who go afk or feed all game…? I’ve been silenced for 2 days so far and I’ve had not one single normal game, it’s like you’re adding salt in a wound, what’s the purpose of even silencing someone, why not just put them in bad games on purpose? Why do both?
The logic behind silence should be to teach the person a lession, not antagonize them and make them want to do bad things again. I understand now why people get silenced repeatedly after the first time. They had to endure the bottom of the pool of players for the whole duration.
Yes, I’m going to get hate for this post. But seriously, there’s no point in a silence AND intentional bad matches for the duration. And before someone says something about MMR my stuffs Masters\Diamond across the board except for HL. I have never had an issue pre-silence. It’s only during the silence I’ve witnessed such nonsense. I’m like 50 games in, I’ve won maybe 4 out of sheer luck. the other 46 games people dc right away, never come back or just keep dying on spawn and speaking some weird language.
Agreed. I think people should learn how to mute and Blizzard should only step in for people messing up the gameplay (feeding, trolling in game, whatever)
I know what I got silenced for and it was for saying the f word and calling a leoric a uh “special needs” person. Which I accept responsibility for the silence but everything that comes with it… It’s just not right lol.
Are we referring to actually toxic players? Or just ones the teammates deemed toxic because they were criticized in a game? (Constructively but took it the wrong way) Banning is something that should never be brought back, Blizzard knows no remorse with that. The silencing thing is fine… but they really need to remove the leaver queue type of status you have inflicted on you the whole time… I keep saying that, I’m really upset lol.
Considering multiple different people have to find you toxic and report you for it in a certain period of time, I’d say it works fairly well. It’s not just one person claiming you are toxic, it is probably 20+ (just speculating).
I only thought Leaver status hits you if you, yourself left a game. That seems odd that Blizzard would put you in Leaver queue for a silence. >.>
My main point is that the chances of you being wrongfully penalized are low, because quite a few people need to report you over a certain period of time. If you were truly wrongfully convicted, you are either a “Celebrity/Streamer” or you were wrongfully called out on a social site.
If you are blatantly harassing and/or insulting someone, I view you as toxic and report you. If others see the same behavior from you, I see it fitting that you are penalized for your “toxicity”.
If you have a situation where it’s perceived that being reported for one transgression is more likely to get punished than another then the player base will shift to using that instead. That’s the way it will go in my opinion.
I reworded that, my preference is no one be banned. Unless what is happening is either illegal or obviously nefarious in nature.
People who tend to use those terms are looking for free jabs. Regardless of what it is, be it a music genre or book series you can say the community surrounding is toxic and get silent nods of agreement.
Plus, there are times where you deserve to be insulted. If I were at work and I have to explain to you a procedure over and over again especially if it’s something you should be aware of going in you deserve the Ramsey treatment.
I don’t think anyone needs to be insulted to get a point across, no matter how deserving. It’s ultimately counter-productive.
In terms of Blizzard, it’s a pretty easy solution - ban those who are deemed toxic. Why? Because toxicity drives away potential customers.
In terms of the work environment you mention, there are other ways of penalization to drive incentive, rather than insulting. Adding extra work hours, putting them on Probation, and even demotion or the threat of severance are all good motivators. No insults required.
I’d much rather have someone pull me aside and say “Listen Idiot, you’re making the same mistake over and over again. is there something wrong with you”. Rather than:
Any of this.
Plus wouldn’t the heroes equivalent of this be penalizing people who play poorly, which inevitably would be newer players. Wouldn’t penalizing newer players also drive away newer players? Which is the reason you want toxic people banned, correct?
