I know that players can be silenced from chat for being a pain in the booty, but what about pings?
There’s an option for that too. Bring up the scoreboard tab, and look to the right side of the player’s stats. There’s an icon to mute pings.
Yeah, I know about that one. I’m wondering if someone can be “perma-muted”.
Ah, I see. Can’t say I recall that being mentioned before.
No, there is no such thing as a mute silence.
It could be useful as there are people that spam pings like crazy and sometimes use it as a form of harrassment, but that is why you can mute them yourself.
Some people oddly enough seem to prefer to get annoyed by pings rather than muting the person.
About 1-2 weeks ago i was on the team pf a zuljin spamming pings like crazy. I muted him within 2 minutes.
But the muradin on our team blew a fuse and warned the zj to stop or he would afk.
He did not stop so he went afk.
We then finished the game and won without him.
Hilarious stuff.
I’ve seen this exact scenario play out a few times now. I will tell the annoyed player just to mute pings, but they would rather be outraged and then try to hold the game “hostage” until the person pinging stops.
A person like this should simply mute the offending ping monster, they should also remember the person pinging may have chat disabled so they won’t even read any complaints made.
I also advised the Muradin to mute the Zuljin in that scenario, but he didn’t.
I can only assume that he has no clue how to and didn’t bother trying to figure out after I told him to mute or he wanted an excuse to get pissed and afk.
Its called spam report. Ping spam can get you silenced too.
I personally, to put it frankly don’t support most types… not all types, of appeals for the devs to waste developement time to add a permanent “mute” option or other similar additions when there’s already similar things in-game that are there for temporary use.
You can mute players, the crazy pingers sometimes do just that and sometimes they don’t.
We’re all grown-ups are we not?
Can’t just sit around all day yelling “But mommyyyy, he said this to me”
Sorry if this comes across as rude… it’s just such a common behavior of grown-ups these last 1-2 decades… Harden up a little people… life will be ruthless… better to learn how to manage it as early as you can.
That is my understanding too. They are just simpletons who cannot open tab and press the mute pings button. So they continue to endure the ping spam instead, no matter how many times anyone tells them muting those pings is one click away.
Wouldn’t be a problem otherwise, but the simpleton then keeps demanding the silenced player to stop doing it, which obviously just encourages the silenced player to spam him even more.
It’s like a bad virtual episode of Jerry Springer…
It’s baffling how people complain when they have the tools.
Also silencing chat stops mature and abusive discussions, wheel of communication cannot reach extreme abuse like someone being allowed to chat.
Pings count as “abusive chat” , so they are reported the same way. THey will be silenced, but they’ll still be able to ping.
… Isn’t that a bit… I don’t know, contradictory?
Guy spams pings all game
Gets reported for spamming pings
Gets silenced for spamming pings
Continues spamming pings, but can’t speak
Is that really how it would happen?
Yes. Some people who had chat turned off disputed a silence, and they were told ping spam counts the same as abusive chat. Though you can still keep doing it so it doesn’t make much sense. But that how it works.
This is pretty common scenario. People want to be “offended”, they start fights, flaming or arguing just so they can have a “valid” report reason for someone they don’t like.
This ZJ probably reported muradin for chat (being provoked to type a single word just to activate report), even though I presume he did nothing wrong in that regard.
Interesting take, considering you are responding to something I didn’t actually write.
I didn’t say that the devs should implement such a system; I simply asked if they had already done so.
Sorry if this comes across as rude, but adults also need to read.
