With how youtube is the only way you can makie (it is a word now) a video without risk of copyright strike is to just…have a blank screen. I remember when I wanted to start making youtube videos when Borderlands 2 was all the hype I got nicked here and there for one thing or another, so I just decided to call it quits.

There is no reason to NOT use ad blocker against youtube, as while they throw a fit over it, they demontize channels while allowing extremely shady ads. I remember the last time I saw an ad over at my parents…it was…adult content. Like, full blown. No exaggeration or imagination necessary.

They make money off a lot of channels that do not make money off of them. It does not take much to get on their dark list.

Yea funny that someone like FBI encourage people to have add-blocks on for thier safety.
Turn it off and you get 20+ adds on your face where some of them might be mailware.

YT is just as bad as it can get because they can allow themself to do it. With no real alternativs to YT then they can set the rules. Already been warned twice now that I would have my own account banned cause of comments i made that they did not like. They also love to remove comments without giving you a reason.

To make all of this worse, YouTube has one of the highest subscription costs of any video streaming platform, with a crucial difference, that they don’t produce (see pay for) the majority of the content.

As you pointed out, YT doesn’t seem to scrutinize many of the commercials on their site, with many being anything from explicit adult content, to outright scams.

YT and Google can keep trying to block the use of ad-blockers, but I will be using uBlock Origin until it’s no longer functional, and/or ripped from my cold dead hands.

I went so far as to move my gaming setup from a gaming room with a regular monitor out into the living room, hooked the tower up to the flat screen, and went through some additional hoops to ensure I could use ad block to avoid youtube’s nonsense. Prior to doing all that if I wanted to watch youtube on my ‘smart’ t.v I had to deal with ads.

Youtube went further down the toilet than regular television. I remember being able to watch an entire episode of Wild Side on National Geographic and maybe having one ad growing up. Two ads on a bad day. Then it got to the point I would shut off Cops because they would just blip between the opening cinematic or whatever for the show and an ad half a dozen times before the (censored) show would start.

At least back then I wasn’t getting bombarded with saucy content or some shady ads on regular television.

I also love it when youtube tries to tell me I am naughty with ad blocker. It means I should go do something else until ublock origins updates (usually clears up in a day) rather than deal with youtube’s ads.
