Ranked aram please

I recently came back to hots and dived into ARAM. ARAM took a little time to grow on me (it has the feeling of being a joke mode at first glance), but now…Unpopular Opinion: It feels like how this game was always meant to be played. It’s so much fun to not have to worry about lanes and objectives. The randomized heroes aspect put you in your place skillwise. Immediately, you figure out you arent as good as you thought you were once forced to play randomized heroes or that you are actually better with certain heroes you were always hesitant to play. I love it. ARAM gives this game a spice it never had before. On top of this, it has the fastest queues out of any mode in the game.

All of this brings me to my point: since ARAM is clearly the most popular mode, i think it’s about time that we have a RANKED ARAM MODE. Thank you have a nice day.

P.S.: To the people who say this would divide our playerbase even further, ARAM queues in peak hours are faster than QMs ever were, ever.

To the people saying that ARAM is luck based, have you ever played the actual game for real, are you a new player, or are you just trolling? Youre lucky everytime you get good matchmaking or get good players who choose good heroes. If youre stuck between bronze or diamond, every game you play is luck of the draw.

That’s because some heroes, like Chromie or Li-Ming, are much better in a single lane with less room for players to navigate. It can easily make players feel like they’re good with them. And some heroes that you may actually be good with just suck in ARAM.

I don’t think the people who play ARAM are looking for a ranked mode. If you make a ranked ARAM, they just won’t play it.

I know I’m staying a way from a ranked moded based around randomness. It defeats the purpose.

Ya know… I agree. I used to be kinda on the fence until stumbling across this video randomly.

With just a little aram specific balancing and some clever solution to melee comps to beat poke, I think it could be a popular game mode.

Beyond that, who are we to dictate what can and can not be played competitively. Yeah there are a tone of random factors in an aram (that’s basically the whole point) but so are there in stuff like poker and trading card games. I don’t know how we can argue whether it would work or not when freaking hearthstone is only a couple buttons away from hots on the launcher.
The only argument I’ve ever seen that holds any weight in my opinion is that it could further fragment the player base. While this is true, I think there are enough aram players to make it work. Plus theres a chance it could bring in new players to the game.
And if it does fail, then what? It just becomes what unranked is now and it all goes back to how things are now.

If you sort by player MMR, you can kinda tell how good these players are.
I know for a “fact” that JuanPablo64, DeadWish and TTWolfE deserve to be at the top. Their mechanics show when I play with or vs them.
I’m only #123 and I don’t think I can do much better now, but I’m grateful to have this pseudo system who can track MMR even in aram.

I wouldn’t like a true ranked mode. Queues would be too long in my case. A lot of lower elo can still be surprisingly good. Not much macro involved, mostly mechanics.

Ranked ARAM is something that could possibly be fun with a few changes implemented to make it work. There have been many threads asking for Ranked ARAM over the past few years, so there is obviously some interest.

The trouble comes when some of these interesting suggestions bump into reality. “Hots is ded” is a dumb meme, but not completely removed from the truth. When it comes to adding new game modes or new heroes or even fixing the Haunted Mines map, it seems the time and funding is not being allocated for the few remaining Devs to make these changes.

Combine that with a noticeable bleed in the active playerbase, it become even less feasible to add yet another game mode. Unranked draft is already basically dead in all regions, even the EU.

I agree. I think with the current player base a lot of suggestions are hard to implement without hurting the game even more.

That being said, we all know the state of hots. I think we should stop with the “it just won’t work in the current state of the game”, because that’s obvious. Assuming the player base size wasn’t an issue, would it still be a good idea? That’s how I think these discussions should be handled.

I hate seeing “its a bad idea because the player base won’t allow it”

Then people would just leave ranked like they did with unranked.
