I was already working off penalty points when I was in a group with someone who dodged draft. Will the additional points stack or do they override what I was already working off meaning I lost those points forever?
PS - When did they make it so the whole group shared rank point penalties? Didn’t know that was a thing.
What? A friend dodged 1 or 2 weeks ago becouse he got disconnected and it wasnt shared.
You don’t get a penalty just because your friend in the same party did.
It is however possible to get a penalty while your friend also gets it.
For example: There are 3 picks left. The one random shows nothing. You and your friend show nothing. All 3 get kicked out with penalty.

Not sure I follow. You can’t enter drafts (neither Storm League nor Unranked) if you have a leaver penalty ongoing.

Never. They are individual to each player. If you have 1 leaver penalty while a teammate has 4 games, yours clears after you win 1 game.
Emphasis on win, to clear 1 game of leaver penalty you must win a match. Not just play it.

I don’t think they are talking about leaver status, but the 500 point penalty you get when you leave a draft during your grace period. For example, I disconnected from draft last season, but that only happens to me maybe once or twice a year, so I do not get leaver status. I do lose 500 points that I can make up 50 points per game for the next 10 games.
To the OP, I do not know if it stacks, but I would assume so, and you would have to play 20 games to clear them all. As others have said, it sounds more like neither of you picked a hero in time, which is why you both received the penalty.
Yeah, it was confusing since he said he’s working off the points, not the penalty itself.
Those redeem 50 points per game in SL. But there’s no way he could play that mode with anyone who has penalties.
After OP plays 10 SL games (without DC’s) he’ll be right where he started point-wise.
But as I stated, I was already working off a 500 point penalty. My question was whether or not the points I need to work off stack or if the second point penalty permanently costs me whatever points I haven’t worked off from the first one.
As for the draft in question, I was showing (didn’t lock), but a random and my teammate were not. I got hit with the penalty and so did my teammate.
That explains it, dual pick round and no 2 lockers = everyone who didn’t lock gets a penalty (hovering in this case counting as not picking). Your teammates showed empty.
It would have been avoidable by locking, then only you would have gotten away with no penalty and the other two (who showed nothing) would be penalized.
I can’t find anything definitive, but from the following article, it looks like only the first one can be worked off, if I am reading it correctly.
“Note : Leaving a Ranked Draft Lobby or Ranked Match results in a 500 Skill Point penalty. You will slowly redeem points lost due to a penalty if you complete several matches without leaving.”
That implies points are only cleared if you do not leave again while working off those points, but I could be wrong.
Can confirm I had two consecutive ones. I only got “forgiven” for the first one so they didn’t stack to 1000 forgiven points.
Also it was kinda my fault since I chose ETC then went away from the computer without locking. Idk if he was banned or if nobody else showed valid picks or what happened, but I wont do it again.
Too risky in my opinion, unless you’re in a 5 group with friends who you fully trust.
Too many trolls who would pick your hero at the last second just to throw you out of the lobby, for one.
Which might even be what happened to OP, someone took his pick at the last split second to grief him since it wasn’t locked.

That makes me sad to hear. I wish I could tell for sure how much I lost. It couldn’t have been too much, maybe 100-200 points lost if what you said is true.
