PvE-Mode ! Need to know

How can a PvE-Mode look like in Heroes?

The PvE-Mode shouldn’t contain story.
It is more like a challenge for those player who wanna play PvE.
There are big advantages for this decision;
e.g.: If you have a story - Shall your friends can play with you when they are in another part of it?

What kind of gameplay is the PvE-Mode?

There are 4 kinds to play the game. Each mode is inspired of one universe of Blizzard.
(1) Legend ~ Inspired by Warcraft - RaidBossFight
(2) Mission ~ Inspired by Overwatch
(3) Massacre ~ Inspired by Diablo
(4) Mutation ~ Inspired by Starcraft

All this modes are not against player and will be explained below.

PvE-Mode: Legend

Inspired by Warcraft-BossFights in this mode 5 player will play in a completely new map where your team fight a Boss!
Bosses have multiple mechanics and phases and maybe we will see remakes from Warcraft/Diablo like Kael’thas from the Eye. Maybe we will see complete new concepts like ‘Genji, the Rain of Shuriken’.

The game is over when the boss died once or the team died 3 times.
When the team died they can try to repick their heroes or make the boss 20% weaker.

PvE-Mode: Mission

In this mode we will spawn in a random map filled with random creeps and random heroes. It is like the PvE-Brawl we already had.
We need to fight to save, rescue or defend someone/something in a limited time. When all heroes died the game is lost too.

PvE-Mode: Massacre

In Massacre we have less goals but we have much fun too.
It is like a Hack n’ Slay. You have to fight minions, creeps, claim areas, doing quests and all the things to earn points.
If you earned the required number of points you have won!
When your team died it’s over.
While ‘Mission’ is more strategic in ‘Massacre’ you can Hack n’ Slay more braindead.

PvE-Mode: Mutation

Mutation is like a A.I. Game against very strong enemies.
But you only have your Main-Core and no forts or keeps.
You have to go into the jungle and kill camps, you have to farm wood and iron and your team have to build his own base with upgrades.
You can build more towns and units are send autmoatically from your towns.
But care! Your enemies are doing the same.

Additionally ‘Mutation’ has a mutation-rules.
Each round there is a rule who makes the whole game different the game you played before! On your first game melee units can be much stronger and in your second game ranged units are flying!!

If you play these games there are awards similiar to the PvP-Games (Gold, EXP, Lootbox).

Would you enjoy this PvE-Mode? Even when it comes in phases like
→ Legend - Release in 2020
→ Mission - Release in 2021

Yeas, I’d like something like this

Or even something more simple, like just more stuff like the PvE Brawls we already got, but as a separate mode because some players only like PvP modes and hate having a PvE Brawl for a week (almost as much as us PvE-ers love those same Brawls :stuck_out_tongue:)

Maybe having a reward so players don’t think it’s “pointless”. Even something small like a portrait for the first time you complete each layout (the first few Brawls actually gave you a unique portrait for completing them the first itme, but then they stopped doing that)

Sure I’d enjoy it.

Problem with anything PvE is that it requires constant new content because you get used to old content and it gets easier every time. Difficult never changes in any dynamic way unlike PvP.

Like with the PvE brawls. The HC difficulty got easy once you figured out which heroes to take and how it works.

A good friend of mine once said that PvE is like solving a puzzle, in that cracking it for the first time feels amazing, but it does get easier each subsequent solve.

PvP is like playing a game like chess. Every match is different, and you can never be 100% sure what your opponent will do.

it would be GAME CHANGING BRUH! i vote fer’ya

there is a video right here:

sorta has the same idea u were talking bout at exactly 1:00 in

About PvE getting boring after a while, that might very well be true, but it could still be a long while before one gets bored.

As “evidence”, consider Starcraft 2 Coop Commanders mode: I read somewhere that it currently has more MAU than PvP Starcraft! (though I have absolutely no idea wether that claim is true or not, but the point is that it’s a really popular mode).

Maybe they could do something similar for HotS PvE? Have Heroes retain experience and levels and have out-of-match progression (for that mode only!), and you can change your build by swaping which talents are selected and stuff between matches? (sort of like customizing Kerrigan in the Heart of the Swarm campaign).

IF they did that, it would give players some progresion to work towards, without having to create a whole other system (though in-match progressions might suffer).

IDK, just throwing out random ideas :stuck_out_tongue:

I disagree with PvE not having any story.

If you’ve played an open RPG you know how you can easily incorporate story elements and still play with friends.

Well…nice idea or suggestion…but …maybe problem is they ( HoTS devs team) will not pin this your idea in his future work or be forgeted. Lets see…

I would settle for the ranked vs. AI they planned back in Tech Alpha. As it is I don’t even think I can drag myself to play a few games a week to complete dailies because the people you get teamed with in vs. AI are beyond incompetent.

That’s right. AI need to get better xd
