I’ve been seeing a lot of negative threads lately and I thought for those of us who actually enjoy this game, maybe trying to even out some of this negativity would help. It probably won’t, but it’s worth a shot. So, Blizzard, you have made an interesting game that I enjoy playing even with its flaws. Thank you for making it. I appreciate it. Not everyone is stuck on the forums doing their best to bring you down after “quitting”, I guess? They have nothing better to do.
Blizzard, I fondly remember the days of rushing home from school to play Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. I spent countless hours of my childhood playing Starcraft and it made me appreciate online gaming like no other game of its time. Warcraft 3 was announced and we finally could see the creativity and diversity of games that could be generated by fans out of their passion for the game. WoW arrived and quickly earned its seat as the most well rounded MMO experience while giving us hardcore raiding experiences and friends that have lasted a lifetime.
These days I can’t help but be disappointed in the company that was always recognized as the gold standard for games. You were the chosen one, but you have forsaken creativity for short term profits, freedom for censorship, and your original fan base for the FPS/Mobile markets. I enjoy a FPS as much as the next person but this isn’t what defines the golden age of Blizzard.
Experimenting can be good but Blizzard had a formula for success in RTS/RPG and moving away from this has cost fans and profits. I enjoyed HoTS for thousands of games pre 2.0 but then like many others I couldn’t. Balance changes, forced esports, lootboxes, and a growing toxicity in your community are consequences of poor leadership. HoTS is ruined in the eyes of many and all we have to do is compare beta signups to the insignificant shrinking player base that is left.
The founders have left this company and soon there will be no more original fans. WC3 reforged and Diablo Immortal are mistakes. They should have been SC3, Warcraft 4, or Diablo 4. It has been nearly 10 years since these games were released. With all the money Blizzard wasted on Titan/OW/Esports we could have had games for the series that made Blizzard what it was.
Now all that is left is frustration in the hearts of the fans that have given Blizzard their time and money to create the foundation for which it stood on for so long. It is hard to see any pot of gold at the end of this rainbow and instead looks to fall directly in to the void. I still come to these forums looking for a glimmer of hope but every day the truth becomes clearer. All things have an end and unless Blizzard 180s their course, they will destroy themselves with shortsightedness and greed.
Well, I agree with your sentiments, but not necessarily that all hope is lost. That’s what the point of my post was. Thanks for your input.
Blizzard, you have failed this game. Monumentally.
HotS is still a lot of fun… don’t buy the doom and gloom hype. Give the game a few more months and a couple patches. If they can consolidate the classes down and reduce all the redundant modes (which will improve queue times and game quality) this game will be just as good as it has ever been.
The actual game itself is really fun, and surprisingly well balanced across the entire skill spectrum. There are heroes and play styles for everyone, and the map pool is actually very good.
lol the people on this game failed even their bosses admit it. They made stupid decisions on design, stupid decisions on priorities. Completely failed to recognize why they were bleeding users.
"Our game doesn’t need LFG finder, Spectate friend, clans or any other social features, let’s just discourage chat alltogether by banning everyone who uses it. Let’s also allow people to skip entire tiers with placements so our ranked mode is sht because moba players dont like ranked yup!
Our players are perfectly happy playing QM with no one talking as if it’s a single player AI game every game, yup! That’s what people want mhmm" - HoTS dev team
New player chat isn’t even close to full at times, it’s like the writing is already on the wall:
“Better release Mei soon with her swimsuit.”
It’s nice to have a positive thread, this game does have many good things going for it. Unlike the OP I’m not going to thank Blizzard for it, they have made it very clear they are a business and will cut their costs and support for this game or any others at any time it suits them. I’m still glad they made it, it’s provided me with some good times, let’s hope they decide it’s worth keeping alive.
That’s all well and fine and I even gave you a like, but there had better be a Hanzo swimsuit in that Mei bundle.
Who cares what people say? Opinions take a backseat to the facts.
The fact is that this game has done so poorly that Blizzard has basically taken it out to the backyard and shot it. It exists now as less than a game, and more like a museum to Blizzard’s universe of characters.
I play the game and nothing’s changed.
Ideally blizz would advertise HotS, maybe add a whole bunch of heroes in a massive 3.0 patch? maybe that’s why they slowed the heroes releases in part?
The advertising is the biggest thing it needs, not necessarily a bunch of heroes (getting close to 100). It just needs to be made fun to play by fixing matchmaking, and improve the quality for the new player with lots of free characters to choose from, and tutorials to teach basic strategy.
Great minds think alike
The game is still good, mechanically. However it does feel like it’s on the decline.
They need rework/change Ranked play, completely, bottom up tbh
I mean, sure, some changes may be done by updating the matchmaker, but at this point I think they wouldn’t make a mistake if they reworked the Ranked into a completely different beast, had a suggestion here if curious to read:
How to Fix?/Save RANKED PLAY in Heroes of the Storm (Documented version) - #9 by Lostariel-21800 [Part 2 has it]
This is too real lol. I don’t think blizz came to that conclusion by themselves, it was mostly degenerates from reddit that pushed for it and it caught their eye

I wish they did listen to reddit, most of what they have done has been taken pretty negatively on there just like it has been here.
Edit: Actually these forums have been way more accepting of all the changes.
