I have been playing varian a fair bit because I like both the sustainability of twin blade, as well as the solo boss/camping ability when we do not have good campers.
The moment I take it in most matches, there is suddenly a flurry of complaints from the rest of the team telling me how to play, how I took the wrong talent, how I should have done X Y or Z.
The sheer amount of time I have been told ‘YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN TAUNT’ against a team that has… massive CC, and high damage area abilities, that would have either instantly undone what I did, or just kill me.
I know what I am doing with my game, but I am constantly getting screamed at in chat (as well has hate speech, that one is always lovely), because I am not playing the way that they want. Yet this is seemingly always done by players who are just constantly making bad decisions and playing poorly. Its infuriating.
If you are taking twin blades and not leading his combo with Q because you are intimidated by missing it could be a problem using that build.
Also knowing when to use W for his one hit power increase with that build…
For utility sake, the other skills are good in QM because I’m not sure competitive grinding with Varian is a good idea if the opponents are comp CC and targeting Varian.
One other thing. It will become very obvious to other players your skill level if you are engaging a lot in no-kill scenarios.
For most skill levels, it shouldn’t matter if you took twin blades so don’t listen to them.
Well, good thing taunt provides bonus health, so when you’re fighting against massive CC, the point is to try to bait their CC and find an opening, not to charge in and AA for 1 minute until you delete someone (because you’ll be deleted first).
I don’t know you, but given the average QM varian, a 2nd thing would be his lvl 10 talents. Despite being just 2, somehow people pick charge when they’re feeding against mages.
Play illidan. Varian gets matched as a tank as far as I know; you’ll troll a lot less by not giving your enemy team “massive CC” (a tank) without picking your own CC (taunt).
Trust me, it’s as infuriating to get TB and have absolutely no kill potential as a team. I’s as awful as people picking naz quest at 20 while they have 150 or less stacks and a teamfight is just starting, or Falstad going w build against 3 ranged assassins and feeding for 1 or 2 dings on quest.
If you ended the post with ‘At least I had fun trolling them, while they had to suffer’, I’d blame bliz not caring about trolling instead of you, a humble troll. But it looks like you’re actually interested in playing pve varian and all 9 other players are getting in your way. Maybe AI games are for you?
Twin Blades generally isn’t that viable, but if you by intention or misclick did take it, then at least give your team a major siege advantage by constantly keeping the bruiser, siege giant and boss camp captured.
It’s frustrating to have a hero on your team who could do all the camps solo fairly fast and instead ignores them completely.
As a pvp only heroic, it’s not that good compared to smash or taunt. It can work against some enemy compositions, but then he should be a pve bruiser 60-70% of the match instead of tank (taunt) or initiator (smash).
It has its uses. I only hope people who pick it, do it knowing the strengths and weaknesses of swapping a powerful ability for increased attack speed.
the only thing that annoys me about Varian is that if you queue auto-select as brusier, 9 times out of 10 it’ll force you onto varian vs. another tank, essentially making it impossible to play Smash/Loseblades unless you are queueing with another tank.
