Please fix this matchmaking

Currently sitting at 56.4% winrate with 8 losses in a row. I didn’t rage, I don’t mind, I’m still playing as best I can since I’m used to it by now. My problem is, I actually thought, “maybe I should go play disco elysium instead of hots” because I know it will probably be another pathetic game coming up if I hit queue.

I don’t know how your matchmaker works, I don’t know how you gonna fix this, but this needs to be fixed.

That would mean an extra 30 secs of queue time. People rage at that.

So no matchmaking for us.

Why don’t they give us the option? Make different QM’s :smiley: , ain’t everyone nowadays for plurality?

I would not mind if there was a slider or something like that:

  • Team with healer/tank
  • Hero-Mirroring
  • Role-Mirroring
  • Wild

Is it not big enough? Are we no longer having a few thousand players? Also, if your hero would need to long to queue, pick another one. In wow you used to have to wait fairly long -an hour or more- if you queued for a certain dungeon as an assassin, pick a healer or tank it was like 5-10 minutes top.

Even if that was a realistic estimate (which it probably is in some regions) - that’s nowhere near enough for properly functioning matchmaking.

A moba needs preferably millions of active players to correctly differentiate between various players’ skill levels.

99% of HotS problems would be gone with a player base that was as big as Dota 2 or bigger.

Maybe it need more players, though I strongly doubt the problems would magically fix themselves with more players. Since the isolation in most countries started we have more players than ever (I think) and he problems seem to have increased if anything, if we look at the forum posts.

Also I think we (or I at least) have to leave this point open because I have not seen any concrete numbers on concurrent players of either LoL or HotS.

All we have really is stat sites. Assume 25-50% of games get uploaded there.

Maybe even more now because of HotsAPI.

The number of players over the years has been completely decimated. It’s no wonder why “expanding search” now happens almost instantly.

The amount of games uploaded on Raynor alone in 2016 (#4th popular hero) is about the same as all games on all heroes combined in 2020 given a random week.

HotS itself is a superior game in some respects. It simply hasn’t the following that DotA2 and LoL has. That’s all.

We’re talking about HotS players here. 5 - 10 minutes is rebellion material.

They were about to 2k away from hitting 500k followers back in 2018, and ever since then this has just been going down, how the tables have turned.

But queue times are so fast. :roll_eyes:

When I play with AI people who occassionally dab into QM, they think a 30s que is “bugged” and rage quit/leave party :laughing:

I whisper them saying it’s completely normal, they go “no I get instant match in AI”… No !#"@ sherlock, it’s vs bots.

During early testing the game had almost 10 million video views too like this trailer.

Now even with hugely popular franchise defining heroes like Deathwing, it’s 600-700k (many of which probably don’t even play HotS, but know DW from World of Warcraft).

The larger gamer audience already know what HotS is and they aren’t excited anymore.

Because it would lead to even longer ques for both and less available playerbase to make even games. All this leads to even less players playing and insanely long ques. We tried putting more rules for MM during call of nexus event. Number of games uploaded went down by a quarter for QM which is crazy. Some people moved on to draft modes but you can be sure a lot just left the game. That number never recovered. While external sites like heroesprofile and hotslogs aren’t 100% accurate they do give good picture of the population in general. The worst part is that game quality didn’t get any better in QM during that time. Games were utter stomps because number of tanks and healers was way lower than rest so game grabbed whoever was available and sometimes made games with tank vs no tank due to shortage of tanks. Not to mention que times went to 5+ minutes for QUICK MATCH. With ques that long there is no reason to not play draft or go ARAM which already is improved QM in many ways.
