This game mode could be much more fun, but sometimes teams are so unbalanced that it doesn’t even make sense to leave the base. At least give the same team composition to choose from for each team, what’s the problem if there will be mirrors? I don’t think that matters in this game mode and when it was a brawl there was a chance everyone will play the same hero anyways. Now it never happens and it was so much fun.
ARAM is supposed to be chaotic.
I get the appeal but to me (competitive) ARAM is actually more formulized than QM.
Heroes are balanced around actual maps, that’s why you see that few dozen heroes over and over again because people know they excel in an aram environment.
You cannot balance aram, and adjusting the teams isn’t going to solve the issue.
It’s supposed to be the whacky fun mode or the one people try out random heroes/builds in. It’s just for when you want to take a break from regular games and smash face for 12 minutes. When you start concerning yourself over winning or losing in this mode you’re already going against the grain.
If you’re not having fun in aram then you’re too focused on trying to conform players to your standards and drafting tactics than you are just picking whoever and rolling with it.
Half the people I know who spam ARAM matches despise “being forced to heal/tank” and will just instalock Li-Ming/Zul’jin/Azmodan whenever they’re available. They aren’t using the opportunity to try out new heroes and often don’t even know how good heroes like Diablo can be in this mode because they just see that tank label and mentally filter him.
Tirade aside it’s almost impossible for them to actually balance the teams.
You can put players into rank brackets but that doesn’t mean anything if they get 3 heroes they’re not comfortable playing.
And as it stands I don’t think trading hero picks is a good idea, because the raw selection of 15 heroes can easily be abused by stacks who know what they’re doing while only making things moderately more comfortable for pub teams.
What does that have to do with anything? It’s supposed to be poo by design? That’s what you are trying to say?
Give both teams the same picks, there, fixed.
Ah yes, so every game can be “Who has the better ZJ?”
Seems better then let’s get bombed by two azmodans and a kt, meanwhile we got no means to engage them. I see we have different concept of having fun.
Besides if you can pick from 3 different heroes, not necessarily both teams will take the same picks.
oh god, another aram balance topic
Your input is welcome, but you actually add nothing of value to the topic. Why do you think it is balanced as it is right now and nothing should be changed?
When you are getting steamrolled during entire match just because what you can pick is far way inferior to what enemy can pick I don’t think that classifies as a fun game. Maybe to you it is, I am glad you enjoy that then, but I think we can reach a general consensus that the picks available at start are very often not even close to make 2 balanced teams.
Also if the topic is being repeated over and over and over again I think that it is a topic worth investigating.
In my opinion all should be random, just give the same pick choices for both teams and the problem will be solved.
Except that still doesn’t solve the issue of player skill.
Unless you genuinely fell more comfortable losing as long as you can acknowledge the fact that you just played your cards wrong since you’re dealt the same hand, instead of blaming it entirely on RNG and not accepting that you still played your cards wrong.
I think the ARAM MMR is as balanced as QM MMR from the look of my heroesprofile history page. I’d say 80% of the time, it’s on a ± internal HP 50 MMR difference.
The stats are being added since patch 2.52.0.
You can take a peak on mine.
So, like QM, I don’t really care about my win rate, but I do care about the MMR on the site. Soon to be 3k without any help for the most part

ARAM doesn’t have MMR. You could have 5 GMs face 5 bronzies and it would be no problem for MM. The players are fully random in both teams.
Like I said, most of the time, it feels balanced, at least for me.
Even if I’m facing a way stronger team, I don’t care about the loss since the internal MMR loss would be minimal in these situation.
I dunno. I mean you are randomly given a subset of a subset to choose from. There heroes you choose from you may not have ever played before (maybe once or twice)… or you might get your main character to choose from.
Point is, even if the comp is balanced you can get screwed by bad luck none the less.
I say just let everyone pick any hero they’ve unlocked. Problem solved. But its not ARAM… that would be just AM.
To be fair, win conditions only depend on 3 things (listed in priority, my opinion):
- Skill in general
- Picks
- Skill on the specific hero.
And if GMs get mediocre heroes and bronzes get OP heroes, I bet GMs will win because they are just better and don’t need OP heroes to conquer.
Isnt posting you’re disdain for a thread counter-intuitive, as it just bumps it to the top?
I’d bet all my money that you didn’t make that topic because you just got amazing setup and completely stomped the opposing team.
Quite the opposite. Just deal with the fact that it’s random and enjoy when fortune is on your side.
I once had an ARAM were the opponent team farmed my teammates till they had 100 kills, then they ended. Maybe just limit the time to 15 minutes.
It was already at the top. So no.
