People picking healers based on “map” or “meta”.
Dont.
Look at your team, see what would work best. Then pick a healer for that.
If one more person tries to pick stukov with zuljin, i might cry.

Just pick a healer you are good at. That will matter so much more than trying to do next level calculus with hypothetical group optimizations. In fact, if you’re not even good at healing, just don’t heal lol.

Why is Stukov bad with Zul’jin? I’d say he is a good choice. Put Q on the Zul’jin so they heal over time but don’t lose out on too much damage. If they get too close to death pop a burst heal on them with trait.
There are some really bad healer picks in certain situations (Malfurion vs. multiple heavy burst damage heroes like Kel’thuzad, Uther’s 12 second burst heal against the continuous barrage of DoT from Lunara/Gul’dan) but this doesn’t seem one of them.

Who do you think the best healer would be to go with Butcher, assuming the healer player is competent? There are definitely multiple contenders, but which one would you think takes the cake?

May I ask why?
Stukov + Zul’jin actually work quite decent together. His healing does not negate Zuls attack boost too much and his slows/combo makes it quite easy to land AAs or if picked very easy to hit Guillotine.

On the one hand I enjoy pairing Lili with Butcher. Butcher has a tendency to draw focus and Lili works well with blinds to aid him in trading with bruisers and especially after ten countering the enemy focus damage on him.
Many enemy comps though have the burst to overcome what Lili can do at her best, for those I prefer Brightwing. Polymorph gives Butch more openings and pixie dust is a great reducer of burst damage. With blink heal BW can be mobile enough to help him with deeper dives too.

Matched with 4 man yesterday. As i picked last i looked at my team. No tank or healer obviously so i picked Uther.
Result? 4 reports because my healing numbers were low (compared to enemy Lucio) and above average death count.
No thank you, this game taught me to be selfish.
Here’s the problem with picking your hero to fit your team:
You don’t actually have a team.

I love the classic Uther + Butcher combo, not only because his heal gives him armor and is instantaneous, but because casting Divine Shield on him at the very last moment of the charge makes him un-crowdcontrollable.
I first saw it in some ancient HGC game. I remember being in awe of someone actually picking Butcher competitively. Needless to say, he was not competitively popular.
Tried that combo a few times with friends, it very much depends on the Butcher’s game sense and skill whether it works or not. The DS upgrade is also nice with him (though now it’s 4 seconds and applies to all nearby allies). The point is casting it in advance before the enemy gets a chance to blind, slow, root or stunlock him.
tank varian is so much better support for a butcher, those two heroes just charge a target and it s dead usually without being able to get out of the taunt/ stun…
if i had to pick a healer for butcher probably morales (stim/armor boost and great single target healing), uther is awesome too in a forward team comp i prefer the aoe stun over ds though

Cleanse makes that impossible against enemies who are over silver. If that is used, their tank will also throw blinds or cc at you.
Butcher could be picked in SL, but then he needs to be a last pick when all bans and counters are already selected.
i havent seen anyone using cleanse outside of platin up ranking on eu and this thread isnt limited to ranked games only either
Ive played with this OP and in the match that caused him to write this thread. He was ZJ he picked him with a 28% winrate.
Solo queue and he flamed the stukov in draft for not picking moralis. Stukov locked first before the ZJ did
This was in north america (my main is in EU)
He ended up with 12 deaths. Died to a mei in the solo lane at lvl 1 to get stacked.
Then troughout the match he died a lot to tower shots and by never retreating in order to get stacked. He called us trolls because we didnt drafted moralis. He got stacked around lvl 16 and we hit 16 late because he died that much
The whole team and the enemy team reported him
I cant believe he wrote this thread. He was the worst ZJ player I have ever seen. And ive seen plenty bad ones

and when we asked him to play more carefully because he had died 4 times already by minute 3, he said “this is my playstyle”.
I don’t even know why bother playing ranked if you’re going to just throw the game on the spot after the team refuses to play around your 28% win-rate over 30 games hero.
