Orphea's kit was originally supposed to be a SC2 lurker

It is all about spines and spikes shooting out of the ground, and a primal frontal chomp ability.

The ults are only lacking the “flavour” of the hero burrowing underground first for the casting animation, they would fit absolutely flawlessly.

This little upstart HAS taken other potential heroes from the original games’ place. We lost them to a loli with zero personality

Have you tried her on the PTR? Or have you at least seen videos of people playing her?
Her “personality” in the game is to actually dance around the battlefield. And I can’t really see a lurker doing that while being buried.

So you say we lost the possobility of a lurker Hero because we have a Hero who uses black ooze with teeth…
I guess we are lucky that we got Jaina after Arthas and Kel’Thu-freaking-zad after Jaina.

As @Wereelf said, Orphea’s playstyle wouldn’t fit a lurker and the ability themes (fire, ice, black teethy ooze) can be used more than once.

Lurkers could be quite mobile with a little micro and overlord drop.

The way she uses that black ooze with teeth just screams lurker. E is a line of pain, with a big burst at the end. This is a heavy callback to the two different lurker strains you could choose between in Heart of the Swarm.

The Ult is a massive zone control that also screams Lurker. If you stand in the circle you get hit, over and over and over.

Trying to equate Arthas to Jaina and Kel’thuzad is not the same. Arthas didn’t have Blizzard, Jaina didn’t have Cold Nova.

There is a very real possibility that my favourite hero will never see the light of day. Orphea’s kit has made that even less likely, because it is 95% the same thing.

It can hop in, then move, then hop out again and quick burrow.

Still, that could also be attributed to secondary development. When they decide that it will be a loli instead of a lurker, they just tack on the teleport at the end.

I’m all for more SC heroes, but the Lurker isn’t one of them. It can burrow and auto-attack in a line. Not a very compelling kit… If more zerg units get added as heroes, it should be the “caster” units that actually have more than one ability - Infestor, Viper, Defiler. Burrow doesn’t even really count as a Lurker ability since all zerg can do it with an upgrade.

4 Heroes have stealth yet not all the same.
2 Heroes have poly yet both different.
3 Warriors have jump, yet they’re different.

Blizz made this kit and they didn’t think it was a lurker. And based on what I could see about lurkers, Orphea’s kit has nothing to do with them.

Orphea’s kit was originally Imperius, you could dash with your sword while casting Holy Light with Q, Arc Swing your sword aka chomp, and “Shall not Pass” E.

The Chaos trait was actually called Cleanse :cry:

We could have gotten a hero that has been requested with this skill set, maybe not the lurker but it could have been literally any hero. There was no need to make a “Nexus born hero” before every possible unit in all 4 of blizzard’s main games and all the classic games were exhausted.

…and here is another example of a hero that it should have been, rather than this filth without an original thought.

They took the physical looks straight from the OW team’s new hero.

They got the aesthetic from any random anime that weebs were watching in their lunch break.

That micro bit is a huge stretch. Orphea gets short quick dashes with her one ability that is nothing like a Lurker. Even with god levels of micro, they need to burrow to attack and unburrow to move which are not quick processes.

Also if lurkers got the “burst” at the end of their “line of pain”, they gave up the line to just get the burst.

With that logic, blame Anuberack for taking lurker abilities, he can talent to leave a line of spines on the ground that pop up and deal damage constantly. Blame Cho’Gall’s bowling ball for the line of damage and burst, or Falstad with Boomerang.

He had an impale in his WC3 iteration, he stole the lurker abilities over 15 years ago. That ship sailed already.

That is understandable on day one, but we are 4 years into power creep for hero development. Everything needs to be “x + 1”. If lurker was a beta release, it would have to choose one or the other (but it would have had a rework already that baked them together.)

I have an alternative answer for that - when the devs decided it would be a loli using the kit, they added the blink. The original iteration was just a straight line attack that resets on hit.

Lurker hero would be awesome. Also Orphea kit looks like more of venom’s or Carnage’s symbiote from Marvel tbh. Looks sick.

Lurker gameplay: push D button to burrow, right click something and blast them as you were a turret.
Reminds me of another hero…but who?
