Now I get it, Varian

6 heroes ago we had malganis. After that we recieved 2 assassins (1 mage, 1 melee), 2 bruisers and a healer (not in that order).
Its not that much overdue considering we have 6 roles to begin with. It just looks like that because we only had 4 heroes in a year.

That’s very fair, I just like playing tanks and itching for a new one.

Also if they did make Varian a dedicated bruiser as I suggested, there would be a need to add another tank.

To me there are already 3 bruiser types:

  • Semi tanks (varian, chen, dehaka, leoric)
  • Semi assassins (ragnaros, thrall, malthael)
  • Pure bruisers (artanis, sonya, yrel)

The semi tanks can in many cases adjust for missing a tank by still having decent sustain for this, the assassins are uncapable of doing so. And the pure bruisers also might be able to, but depend too much on being able to attack to do so (the tankier bruisers have self sustain capabilities while stunned).

Even if varian becomes a full bruiser, he is still going to remain the meme varian we know. Even without taunt. Since the players going for memeblades are not suddenly going to change, while those are the ones who caused the name to exist and thrive.

I rather play against taunt varian than against tb varian tbh. Taunt Varian doesn’t really counter Genji, but TB just forces you to not stay too long in the fight.

But if Varian goes TB as the only frontline, then he just loses cause my team will just run over his team lmao.

I should qualify that I was really only speaking of the Varian problem people complain about in regards to QM. The scenario your outlined with Varian being your team’s only frontline but he goes Twin Blades.

You’re probably correct. When I’ve been in situations in QM with only one frontline as Varain and the player took meme blades, the answer from these people was “Twin Blades is more fun”…

1v1 matters (even if u play tanks) because it can be hapens any time in the game, in fact you can lost/win an objetive because you win/lost a 1v1 before it, also varian is not a full tank he is a half bruiser even his tanky build has some kind of damage,i always try 1v1 with varian if i know i can, also just after a teamfight u can catch an solo laner too far from his base and you can have a 1v1 with him (a sonya for exaple) 1v1 happens and is a part of the game, many heroes are good in 1v1 so even you dont like it 1v1 exist, you should watch videos and streams from FanHots he always try to 1v1 everyone, every time, also i just wanted to put an example about varian vs muradin, and how muradin is a better tank than varian taunt, but not a better bruiser.

Lol.

Imagine thinking the game is a 1 v 1 because Fan does it all the time to entertain his viewers and make money.

i never said the game is only based in 1v1, i said 1v1 can happens in any time in any game and some heroes at good at it and can use it to take some advantage, in fact genji is good in 1v1 against some heroes, varian and thrall too, malthael has one talent that deals more dmg in 1v1 too… 1v1 is a part of the game, one exampe maps like braxis holdout or sky temple favor 1v1 thats why we pick solo laners/bruisers with high self sustain

I know you didn’t, but you said Varian TB was better cause it can 1 v 1 Muradin.

It’s not about 1 v 1 a Muradin, it’s about being a T A N K. It’s about doing what a tank does, having abilities that a tank should have, being a tank to their team.

TB and Csmash will never do that even if they could solo 1 v 1 all heroes in the game. You win the 1 v 1, you lose the 5 v 5. And the 5 v 5s matter much more than the 1 v 1s my friend.

To be fair I do not like the idea that Varian gets put with 4 other assassins vs enemy solotank or even duo tank sometimes and expected to go Taunt.

He is a multiclass, give me an option to choose my role.

I stopped playing him because in QM I was forever stuck with Taunt as a solotank while enemies always had duo frontline.

One of them could easily be switched to my team and I would get to choose my role as a multiclass hero.

i said if varian and muradin have to 1v1 twin blades would be far better than taunt

of course if you pick tank you should do tank stuffs, but tanks also have dps talents and there is a lot of ways you can use it to take an advantage, but also is too risky, i have seen many games when muradin (or another tank) go some kind dps build and that create a huge space becuse he can punish someone who makes mistakes killing a valla or a zuljin, also i have sen when dps talents are worst than tanky builds

not really, if u win a 1v1 in a lane (f.e chen kill ragnaros in the solo lane) that “creates space”, and he can have more time capturing objetive, taking camps are destroying a fort, also if u kill someone in 1v1 then a teamfights is not 5v5 is a 4v5 and you can have more chances to win a teamfight if an enemy is dead, i think you are just putting all your worst examples to undervalue the 1v1, also i can say many examples to highlight when 1v1 gets value, so this conversation about if 1v1 is good or bad has no sense…

It seems Varian going for TB is the same with Lili takes Dragon Ult

Imagine him yelling aĂ aaaaaaaaaaah because he realised he dove to his death

This is how real TB varians think. They are literally unkillable after all. Well at least for that glorious 1 second.

P.S. Smash varian is king. If I play varian, I do it to SMASH! (no, I don’t play QM XD)
P.P.S. Smash varian would actually be the best choice in 4 assassins + varian comp. Burst em down one by one (assuming ppl in QM know how to focus their damage; hmm, is that too unrealistic?).
