Just a thought - make ghost protocol drop Nova into full stealth for its duration (still able to move). This would turn GP into an offensive ability as much as an escape and would be more thematic.
I do not think it is a good idea to make a toxic hero even more toxic.
That’s literally what it used to do years ago. Nova was entering unbreakable stealth for 4 seconds, during which she could attack and take damage without leaving stealth.
But back then it used to be a level 20 talent, and it wasn’t leaving a decoy behind.
I do agree that making her enter unbreakable stealth for a while would be quite nice of an improvement, but I think it should be a talent and not baseline.
Nova isn’t just strong—she can feel unfair when played well. Here’s a clean breakdown of why Nova is “OP” (overpowered), especially in certain ranks and situations.
1. Burst Damage That Deletes Squishies
Nova’s defining trait is her ability to erase low-health heroes almost instantly.
-
Her combo (Snipe → Pinning Shot → Basic Attack → Triple Tap/Precision Strike) can kill assassins and supports before they can react.
-
Unlike sustained DPS heroes, she doesn’t give you time to adapt—if you’re caught, you’re just gone.
This creates a “no counterplay” feeling for less coordinated teams.
2. Permanent Stealth = Constant Threat
Nova’s stealth isn’t just invisibility—it’s pressure.
-
She can roam freely without being seen unless enemies actively reveal her.
-
This forces opponents to play cautiously at all times.
-
Even when she’s not nearby, people act like she is, which disrupts positioning and aggression.
The psychological impact alone makes her stronger than her raw stats suggest.
3. Long-Range Precision (Snipe Build)
Her Snipe build is where things get especially oppressive:
-
High range lets her poke safely from outside most heroes’ reach.
-
Stacking talents can turn Snipe into a devastating nuke.
-
Skilled players land repeated hits, snowballing damage quickly.
Good Nova players feel impossible to approach.
4. Low Risk, High Reward Playstyle
Nova doesn’t need to commit like other assassins:
-
She engages from distance
-
She disengages instantly with stealth
-
She rarely gets punished unless revealed or mispositioned
Compare that to melee assassins who risk dying every fight—Nova gets value safely.
5. Dominates Uncoordinated Teams
This is huge:
Nova is much stronger in:
-
Quick Match
-
Lower ranks
-
Games without voice comms
Why?
-
Players don’t group properly
-
Squishy heroes wander alone
-
Few people draft counters (like reveals or armor)
In these environments, Nova can farm kills nonstop.
6. Forces Awkward Drafting
To deal with Nova, teams often need:
-
Reveal abilities
-
Tanky comps
-
Tight positioning
That’s a lot of adjustment for one hero.
If your team ignores her, she runs the game.
Lmao, why does this look like as if it’s been written by AI?
It’s formatted exactly as ChatGPT would format it.
But yeah. Nova isn’t weak per se. She’s just unflexible. If enemy team is tanky, or mostly stays together or has ways to reveal her, she loses nearly all of her value, as she can’t really contribute with anything else.
Had once 9 wins in a row with Nova in Platin. Sadly, on my 10th game, I’ve got a full team of flamers. ![]()
I just simple want Eye of Horus from Ana for Nova. Triple Tap is great, but I want to aim and snipe over the whole map, lol.
They’re a troll. They’re just spamming threads with AI generated garbage. Just ignore them.
years ago she was a must pick
Just like Valeera you can’t buff her without making her beyond oppressive in lower ranks and quick match.
Side grade her power or accept she’s going to be low pick in higher ranks.
Such a straightforward spell, yet most people I’ve seen playing her can’t keep 5 stacks even half the match. She even has her own setup for it, ffs.
Yeah, she was pretty nice, since everyone wanted to play Hanzo and Valla.
