Next patch is chat opt in on League

Once again Riot is years ahead of blizzard. In the next patch you can only chat and see other messages if you click on the chat icon or enter a chat message. This is for the post game char.

I think thats a good compromise to those who dont want it in hots and those who do.

General chat can be turned off if you dont care about what trolls keep spamming in those channels all day. Chat ingame can be turned off so Hots already got the tools to remove chat if you dont want to be part of it.

I really wish HOTS had all chat during the match. I play DOTA, and “all chat” was the cream of the crop that made the game feel more social and connected, and yes, funny lol. There’s normally funny banters, discussions and everyone getting hyped, and from time to time, you can see the enemy team crying about their team- so you then ask them to discuss about what made their team trash so they can feel better. Sometimes if it’s a stomp, no-one really says anything lol. I’ve very rarely had any trouble with trolls, and if you do your best to work with the team, you’d rarely get flamed on DOTA. People who claim that DOTA is toxic are most likely players that just do their own thing and get upset when someone wants some team-work to happen.

I think if Blizzard added an all chat feature exclusive to players who brought the Boost packs at the least, then it kick a bit of life of what’s left on HOTS. All chat during in-game and end game! Maybe even pre-game. Blizzard wants their game and player-base to be more social , not isolating, then it’d be a good start to create an all chat. It’s just entertaining, social and funny as well with what players have to say to each other. It’s only natural.

I can only see this as something premades would use to mock enemy that they hard stomped. We dont need more stuff added that only enable toxic premades to mock every team they win againts.

Allready tired of getting taunted/sprayed on by people who hide in 5 stacks and think they are cool kids. Enabling them to mock you in all chat aswell would just make me uninstall for good.

I can see where you’re coming from, however, one of the reasons why League and DOTA is successful is because of all chat which enables more socializing. As for the toxic people that go over-board, you can usually report them. Especially if your own team reports them, and it will stack up if they keep going over the top in other games. However, if it’s friendly banter or over-excitement from winning a match, then you got to let them express themselves.

Perhaps Blizzard should try a beta for all-chat. If it gets nasty or too hard to control, then they can easily turn it off. Blizzard needs a big change and update, and something as simple as that can be very beneficial and draw healthy attention to Blizzard and HOTS.

Have you played League? All chat is the main flame channel, usually asking for reports and/or mocking the enemy (usually both).

Out of the reasons why LOL is more popular than HOTS, all chat is not one of them. I doubt anyone has really made friends, ever, through all chat in LOL.

Objection
Hearsay
Lack of foundation

Like seriously, citation is needed.
Ppl can point at any random difference between the two games and claim that’s one of the reasons (“one of the [many] reasons” is already super vague and untelling) the other is more successful, but correlation does not equal causation.

There are more objective factors that explain why one is more successful than the other, but allchat is not one of them.
You can still like and want it, but don’t act like it is truly widely important.

League has all that already as well. What OP is talking about is the chat after the game has ended, which hots doesn’t have. In league after the match ends, you go into a room with all stats and several statistics about everything (seriosly, literally everything with graphics, numbers and more), and all players are there where they can talk to each other, report, see stats etc.

Hots doesn’t have this cause after the mvp screen, the post match room is only you. I wish we had one cause a lot of times I want to say gg to the enemy team, but the only way is to send a private message one by one

so… league is so ‘ahead’ because a chat option the game has, has to now be enabled as a way of curbing the vitriol tossed at other players. Ya know, in addition to the other chat limitations the game has imposed as well.

You’re neglecting information/context on the game (end game chat) and you don’t seem to grasp the issue that this is trying to address, let alone get what a ‘compromise’ would actually entail for Lol or the equivalent in HotS.

If anything, people point out how ‘ahead’ HotS has been by not having that stuff in the first place…

Just turn chat off??? I mean its pretty easy

It doesn’t turn off in draft screen or post game, just like in hots draft screen.

You can stop on “next patch…” there, lol has something that hots dosent

If you can’t handle multiplayer chat, then probably multiplayer games aren’t for you.
