As a long time player, since alpha. And have multiple accounts. I dislike this current change. With all the new players that dont even understand basic tactics, and drafting per map vs counter enemy draft. The quality of my personal experience in League play has gone from High gold to Low silver. Now with this Fort/tower CRAP you are trying to teach people that cant even comprehend the basic mechanics of the different heroes, let alone map tactics. Bring back Blizzard! Not this Activision thinking.

The tower changes are fine, but really all the core defenses do, is stall an inevitably long game. I had a nearly half hour long game yesterday, that should have been 20 because of this. Downgrade them slightly on the power scale and I’d be happier w/ new changes.

the slow games are largely due to a lot of people not being able to push fences down, they could just remove the hero focus frmo the fence towers and that would solve a lot of the problem as well!

Here’s your true test. Make it an option. Let us turn it off or on before que and make separate ques. Let the numbers be your test. Wonder how many people would screw with it then instead of being forced into it. I doubt you’d have enough people to actually keep up league play.

70 % of players would disable anything new, because “change is bad”.

I don’t like new gate towers, they feel too oppressive when fighting under a gate, and make pushing just running back and forth in and out of the tower range when you should be fighting and pushing. I agree on changes for keeps and forts, they should feel dangerous and they do now. Haven’t played anything other than brawl, so can’t say anything about the core.
EDIT: Oh yeah, AI is completely broken now in single lane Brawl maps. They barely do anything when following players. I was thrilled for the AI changes but they seemed better on paper.

Personally, tower changes are fine for the most part, especially when defending though I would say that the debuff alone hurts a lot. Maybe reduce the cap to -20% or -25%. Remove the armor debuff from the Gate Towers, them prioritizing and damaging you is enough.

I dont like the towers. The armor scaling is too big. Why do also apply it on the towers and not only on the forts/keeps
It also favors the heroes who are already favored

Generally speaking, I like the new Nexus Anomalies with the exception of the new tower A.I.
One of the things that brings me to play heroes is the PvP. I mean, it’s the entire game. By changing the way towers target players you change the meta of a lot of heroes and not only that you make maps with lane pushing objectives virtually impossible to take advantage of. Alterac Pass is such a waste of an objective now. You can’t take advantage of the boosted damage it gives you. It’s pretty much the equivalent of a boss pushing the lane.
The core fighting back is amazing. With the core fighting back you really gave the Nexus some marvel. It feels tough to fight the core. It also addressed things like Illidan, Varian, and Artanis being able to simple solo push the core with or without minions.
When it comes to the functionality of the non-core structure fighting I absolutely love it. It makes the risk of tanking a tower without minions just that, a risk. You make those who want to tank the tower to add pressure have to default to alternative strategies like grabbing a camp or distracting the team to achieve the destruction of the fort/keep/tower. All-in-all, it adds a layer of strategy to the game.
Last but not least, the exp globes. I think this is a nice touch to balance a lot of split-pushers and soak heroes like Abathur and TLV. They don’t have to make their priority proxy/body soaking exp and make high risk plays just to soak. It’s a nice balance touch and it gives pretty much any hero the capability of being the off-lane soak.

I like the core changes
I am not liking the armor reduction from forts and keeps. I also dont like front gate towers auto attacking enemy heroes when attacking other enemy heroes. However, this is ok if its the keep, fort, or core that allows this type of auto target enemy hero. I also would suggest a fix for fountain well sniping like increse shields when fort, or towers, or keep are still alive. I would go in depth more on how i feel about this Nexus Anomaly… but in another thread. I just want to dart out exactly what i like and dont like so far

Since so many people claim that the average game time has gone up oh so much, here’s a pretty nice and objective analysis by another HotS player on reddit:
https://old.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/comments/g8akmw/data_on_average_game_time_change_with_the_new/
It shows that the average game time went up by about 1 minute and 20 seconds.
yeah most people frame it poorly, I did as well in the start. The problem isn’t necessarily that games are on average way too long now. The problem is that on maps where you used to have the ability to finish out quickly, you now always have to play up till lvl 16/20. That is problematic because it makes scaling heroes way stronger than similar heroes that scale as well.
Nazeebo ZJ and KTZ for example can now easily dominate games because they have so much security in reaching the late game. The game isn’t going to take 20 minutes longer because once they reach their strength, they can easily finish out the game. And because it is so hard to push early and to punish bad plays (like for example nazeebo picking lots of fights early and dying becaues of that), you see that those picks can often just absolutely roll over teams by simply becoming stronger in the late game. It is incredibly frustrating to play the early game way better than your opponents but then having to lose to heroes that simply outscale you. That makes this meta very stupid and encourages players not only to play a small amount of heroes, but also play those heroes very passively, leading to more boring games.
And no you won’t see this too much in the game length because not that many games would be facing this problem, it is just the games where a team decides to pick a nazeebo along with a butcher or KTZ and ZJ in teh same team. Those are the games where those slow picks should be punished with an early finish for the opponents but since that is pretty much impossible now, picking stacking heroes like that is just a very viable option right now and you get frustrating boring games as a result.

Well while I don’t agree on most of your statements, from my point of view, it would be a good thing if games didn’t end in less than 10 minutes, as it feels horrible to get stomped and imo it doesn’t feel rewarding to stomp people like that either. You are still able to secure a quick win within 10-12 minutes now by the way, if you play much better than the enemy team, but you have to be more aware of structures for sure. Which again, imo is a pretty good thing. Those super fast wins/ losses rarely happened on my end either, maybe that has to do with the fact that I play almost only Ranked. Just two games ago I finished a match in less than 13 minutes though, so it definitely still happens.
While none of the quest-heroes that you’ve listed are performing much better now (check Heroes Profile winrates for facts), keep in mind that stacking heroes have been underperforming for the longest time now (with the exception of Zul’jin in some cases). Do you think it would be bad if they were actual options to be picked every now and then?
Its been a few weeks now and it seems people don’t like the tower changes, myself included. The core changes are good, those are fun. But the towers are simply not fun. It puts a halt to fights and stops the action. If it was the old damage and slow maybe it would be ok but these new towers just destroy everyone and its so random who it shoots at when everyone is attacking each other under a fort.
The biggest issue is boss and objectives not pulling agro from towers. You cant go in and defend your boss that took 5 people to capture. Not fun skirting around the towers and keep to push.
Altogether with the low pop, making the game less fun is probably not a good idea.

It’s not random. The towers prioritize the 1st person in range to deal damage to an enemy hero, and continue to prioritize that person until they either die or move out of range. Moving out of range has never been easier since the forts lost their slow, and it you’re getting consistently “destroyed” by towers you’re way out of position.
A few weeks now and people still don’t understand basic moba mechanics.

I understand the argument. I still see the benefit for defenders and I like the changes for them. It now actually makes sense to rush to a lane to defend a fort. Previously, you would abandon it quickly and move on with your life game and so something else.
That I like.
I do agree however, that the shots are too powerful right now. The armour debuff stacks way too fast (especially considering that it’s not uncommon to get shot by multiple structures). Incrementing by 2 % would be way more reasonable in my opinion.
Really fun changes! Everything works as intended imo. It is more fun now to play under towers both as defender and attacker. Towers and forts are actually useful now, not just a meat barrier on the way.
Core’s abilities are good too. Not much use when the game is lost, but they are just fun.
And overall this is a breath of fresh air! Keep changes coming and I hope this one stays! at least the “Call for help” part.

That you get less punished for not laning. That double lane soaking is made much easier. The globes tend to stay quiet a while after all.
That stealth now has to literally walk over the globes to get them.
That true stealth has more or less been completely abolished in this game, its more of a you can’t target me with point and click abilities, but that’s all ^^.
Personally I thought that structures changes would have made the game more strategic and fun… I have to change my mind now, I’ll list some of my thoughts:
- A lot of players (I’m one of them) usually tend to play worse after 22/25 minutes in game, being more distracted and just praying the game to end, no matter how… this leads obviously to chaotic team fights and most importantly to stop playing after one or two matches.
- I lived this game as a break. In my case after stressfully study efforts throughout the day I liked to relax playing few 15/20min (max) matches that perfectly filled an hour. Now they are on average more stressful, mostly because of the length… I’m pretty tired after an hour.
- Structures are not strategic as I thought. They are too strong, you can’t push with objectives, aoe damage, mainly if you are an assassin, are likely to get you killed by mistake… it happened so many times, with valla, sylvanas with exploding minions, jaina etc…
Summarizing, games are longer and more stressful, forts are stupidly strong and some objectives become just weaker.
A strong point is that late game heroes become very useful.
EDIT: Those are my options of course, if the majority of the players enjoy it I obviously don’t mind at all, I generally like changes! Probably the reasons why I play this game are not the ones of developers and players. No one obligates nobody to play and then being toxic or unnecessarily nostalgic!
