Garrote was initially 2 seconds. Then it was increased to 2.25, then 2.75, then reduced to 2.5 again after some backlash from QM players.

Developer Comment: In an effort to reduce the frustration of playing against Valeera, we’re reducing her burst damage potential. Especially in Quick Match when counter picking isn’t an option, the ability for a stealth assassin with disabling effects and high burst damage isn’t fun or healthy for the game, so we’re toning it down some.

Valeera is horribly unbalanced, everyone I talk to in game feels the exact same way. It doesn’t matter if you play her or play against her, everyone knows the hero is niche, can be overly oppressive, but also can feel extremely unimpactful in some games. There’s a reason you hardly ever see her in competitive play.
The point and click silence is too strong and some heroes have next to zilch ways to defend against her other than just never leave the shelter of structures.
This entire thread literally makes no sense because its not in the day this was made, please don’t take my sarcasm to shove in your Valeera takes.

The thread does make sense because nothing the OP said in his opening statement was wrong. Valeera CAN global some heroes from 100% and they are silenced for the full duration. Valeera can chunk most ranged assassins for 70% of their HP in a matter of seconds.
Maybe Valeera doesn’t need a nerf, but a rework to make her less cancer to play against and more viable in serious games is warranted.
As for your sarcasm, I really don’t see how it adds anything to the conversation. I know the feeling of wanting to make a serious point, only to have people that are supposed to be respected members of the community come and mock you for daring to have an opinion- a valid one at that.
Sarcasm is the only way to react to weird Nerf ideas. Too many heroes got ruined by whiners already, because people are too lazy for counterplays.

Most people would be happy to see valeera nerfed, even if they know she doesn’t really need it because she is “unfun” and annoying.

in general heroes aren’t meant to be “fun” to play against. people are just stupid tbh whoever think heroes should be “fun” to play against is just stupid and that’s a fact. there’s not a single hero that’s fun to play against in this game. why valeera is an exception? ridiculous…

NECROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Also on topic since people mentioned MFPallytime: I enjoy his videos but realistically he’s like… a high plat/low diamond player at his absolute best and makes TONS of mistakes and misplays all the time. Him hating Valeera doesn’t mean anything. In one video, he was playing as Malthael and constantly face checking bushes: instead of realizing HIS MISTAKES, he kept whining about how OP and unfun Valeera was and KEPT FACECHECKING BUSHES FOR MOST OF THE GAME. Someone in the comments left a message telling him that his frustration came from his poor play, constantly facechecking, refusing to learn from his mistakes, etc and his only response “2.5 SECOND SILENCE!!!”.
It’s cool that people watch streamers and stuff but you really don’t want to use someone’s reaction as evidence when they have a known history of making silly mistakes and not learning from them lmao.
