Here is my theory about Qhira.
She was made in advance, before or after Orphea. The dev did say they won’t be releasing original characters for a while and then the Diablo Immortal apocalypse happened. Due to most of HOTS team has been pulled to other projects and many decided to jump ship, they lack personnel now. Therefore they probably haven’t finished designing new hero yet, and were forced to take out Qhira.
That’s why they introduced Qhira with little to none lore which no one cares about (I believe they might had done this way much earlier if Orphea was a huge success), because no new hero for a long time may lead to a worse disaster.

I think what people don’t fully understand is that it’s actually way easier for the gutted HotS team to make original characters. To make a Blizzard hero you have to account for the character’s lore and personality; you can’t give them abilities that wouldn’t fit the character. But an original character with no backstory means they can do whatever they want.
They saving big names for blizzcon so instead of another nexus hero for blizzcon they released her now

It was once said that her lore is as follows:
She enters the nexus to collect the tears of her enemies so that she can summon a powerful nexus crystal to battle the ravenlord with.

Qhira=queera. Already female. Black, if made LGBT would fit the mold of sjw.
So they did one of the worse things they could’ve done, they went back on their word.
Yeah, great idea there.

…are you being serious? It’s “easier” to think of a COMPLETELY NEW CHARACTER than just use one of the existing ones?

From a developer standpoint, yes. They don’t have to adhere to any lore or character development- because there is none. We know Qhira was designed as literally just the weapon first, and then they made a kit and character around it. Even if you gave her kit to any number of Blizzard characters that could probably fit the same weapon type, how many of them could you justify having the “blood rage” ability? That has nothing to do with the weapon and everything with the character, but since Qhira has no background, they can just make it up for the kit.
I’m not saying it’s better they make OC characters (I fully say they have no place in HotS and should not be here), just that it is technically easier for a struggling team to make.

No. Black trans woman = the most oppressed, she must be black trans woman and then SJW gamers everywhere will become imbued with fulfillment, levitate into the sky and merge with one another to form the superorganism/protogod Omnirace, the actions and ramifications of which will be unknown.
I’m not sure why Blizz decided to release Qhira, but she seems to be as popular as any other hero release. By this I mean, primarily mirror matches in all QM since her release, just like any other new hero.
