My concerns for the Experience globes

It’s now visually easier to understand how and where experience comes from—introducing Experience Globes ! In the past, the acquisition of Minion experience (the act of “soaking”) was largely invisible, which made it difficult for players to understand how incredibly important it is. For our first seasonal change, we are giving players a brand-new educational tool to help show them where all this valuable experience is coming from!

  • Minions no longer give Experience by simply killing them, but instead drop an Experience Globe that must be collected.

Experience globes that must be collected

That means every hero who can do delayed damage gets a huge nerf if they are not psychicaly present at the lane

For example
Guldan
Jaina with W
Nazeebo
Malthael

Or high ranged heroes
For example
Azmodan Q / D
Nova presicion strike
Junkrat
Aba when he puts down mines
Zarya
Hanzo
And the list goes on

My actual concern:
If Jaina in this example puts her W on a wave, and an experienced one knows this one is lethal , I dont need the regen but I need to depush the other wave. Lets just run over there

She cast W and runs away, will she be missing on XP because she is not there?

And how about XP denial?
Its a great mechanic where you block out your enemy in order to deny them xp
If the globes are on the ground, can he just run in range and get them?

This does unlock some advanced laning strategies that could allow experienced players to carry in lower leagues.

For example allowing your enemy to gather the first wave uncontested.
Now he/she has to gather the consequent ones under your towers while you safely gather them under tower fire.

But it does heavily punish heroes who don’t have the HP bar to go in and collect health or xp orbs against self regenerating lane bullies like Thrall, Alarak or Fenix.

It will also make life as super low HP heroes like Murky or Erik pretty painful. No more sitting in XP range, using ranged abilities and passive soaking.

Soaking exp in new system against a Valla or Fenix with Murky who keep killing your puffer and don’t let you come near the minions… :grimacing:

Also what if I’m forced to lane as Kael or Chromie? I can’t just walk up to the wave and collect XP orbs unless I’m suicidal…

Its just hindering higher level of players who know their hero and its dumbing out the game for noobs who dont understand how important xp soaking is.
There is no advanced laning strategys in people who need a globe rework in order for them to soak

This is XP denial, you deny them getting close to minion waves

Sorry dont want to attack you but this was a well thought out tactic that was rewarding players who did it greatly

True, but even in the new system, if you move the lane closer to your towers, you can deny the enemy from denying you XP globes by attacking/killing you. That is assuming they take the bait and move the lane closer to your side.

If the lane stays frozen in the middle or moves to their side, it will be almost impossible for squishy heroes to gather experience globes.

This is the worst idea since artifacts.

I believe such system is the result of the so called “Nexus Anomalies” which would last for 3-4 months.

In reality, this is simply the devs making excuses to test out new mechanics. If it’s widely accepted, then it’s gonna stay. If it’s not, then they can just blame it on those “Anomalies” and get rid of it.

That change just kills the idea of some heroes like Murky solo laning against competent ranged attackers… You might even fall behind a lot in exp if you do that since they keep denying you the exp orbs

Yeah, when this system goes online I will just try to slowly move the wave closer to my towers. That way I can safely collect the orbs even as a viking and they can’t deny it.

Almost the same as the current system where you have to soak safely behind gates in some situations, just a bit more tricky since you do have to get a bit outside the gates to get the orbs. And no more AFK soak.

It sounds like huge a nerf to ranged heroes, but a huge buff for all mele bruisers while they already dominate solo lane. I think it will just force many heroes to afk under their own towers to safely collect those globes. Very uninteresting…

Actually based on what devs were saying the symbiote will soak up the globes:

Although I am wondering if that means the globes will automatically be sucked upon placing an active symbiote? If so that is pretty scary since it means he can soak the XP on lanes that are being lost by placing it on a backline minion and just taking the XP your party member is being denied. That also means he wouldn’t need to spend as much time on the minion just go in vacuum up the XP and go.

The bigger concern though is whether these globes will give away his location, meaning does the globes he soaks from a distance show a visual indicator of where the globes are heading?

Although that said I do think that they are aiming to lessen the value of ranged laners and promote drafting actual solo-lane heroes.

I knew aba was mentioned,
I actidently put his hat, I meant his mines. But thought lets leave it in there, someone will comment on it for others :stuck_out_tongue:

Well it is in the name, “Nexus Anomalies”.

it will be risky play to go in an take orbs something like gold farming, its bad u want to keep wave close to you gate so enemy can’t farm- and u need to take camps is specific time u dont want u lane to be pushd. If aba need to put hat to collect there is no reason for him to leave base at all if u cant body soak when is tf .

Which is bull$it, cause it will drive even more players away. Using live for beta testing is literally the worst move an IT company can make with its products. This seems like blizzard simply intends to kill off the game completely.

That is one of the things they still need to elaborate when do these XP orbs drop? Does a structure killing a minion cause the orb to drop or not? Does a hero have to be in the vicinity of a minion to have these things drop or will they drop even without a hero nearby?

From what I’ve gathered, it sounds like it works ALMOST like always had except there’s a visual indicator.

That means that if you’re near the kill, even as TLV, the globes will ‘vacuum’ to you (get sucked in).

However, you do bring up good points about throwing out an ability and then running out.

Not sure how that’s going to play out.
