Morales needs a buff

As someone who felt like they could carry almost any game as Morales back when she had mana, she deserved that nerf. She was incredibly powerful, but at the same time, Blizzard put in some major weaknesses for her like her inability to heal herself and her vulnerability to any kind of dive. Now that the nerf has come out she has even more weaknesses and even fewer strengths. Blizzard built her as a sustain healer, a role which she is no longer fulfilling with her high energy regen time and low energy pool. Other recently worked on healers designated as sustain healers have much stronger healing than her like Deckard, Tyrande, Whitemane, and Ana.

Let’s take a look at Ana more specifically in comparison. She shares the inability to heal herself and vulnerability to any kind of dive that Morales has. We can say that Ana’s healing buff matches up with Morales’ armor buff, even though the armor buff can’t get value outside of combat and the healing buff also prevents enemy healing. Now let’s look at their 2 cc spells in comparison. Ana has a sleep which is basically the exact same as a stun in almost every situation while Morales has a bump. I find it difficult to bump away people who are right on top of me. Before the change to the grenade bump, it would detonate on the first target hit which was great for bumping people away at point-blank range. Now that it is only detonated by activation I have trouble activating it the instant it comes out and half the time it bumps the person I’m running away from toward me to some degree. Even if I could land the bump perfectly every time at point-blank range then Ana stun would still be stronger because it prevents them from re-engaging after it lands. A good Butcher with quest complete can dominate Morales by himself without his ult so easily and quickly while all Ana has to do is land her sleep and run away. Let’s say Morales lands her nade perfectly on people like Butcher, Varian, Kerrigan, Genji, Illidan, Maiev, Thrall, and Zeratul. They all have gap closers and cc that can easily make up that distance while Ana sleep keeps them from chasing. Now that we have established Ana’s cc superiority, let’s compare their heal spells. You might think that Healing Dart is weaker than Morales’ healing beam because it can be blocked by other heroes but you would be wrong. The beam can sometimes be targeted on the wrong person too if the fighting is making people cluster together, just like Ana. Ana dart also has higher potential healing and doesn’t go on cooldown after being stunned. On top of that, completing the level 1 talent doubles ana’s potential healing and removes the problem of it being blocked by other heroes. Ana dart is also longer range, a range that is further improved at the end of that level 1 talent. Ana can also spec to remove roots, slows, and stuns, something that old Morales could do with cleanse but can’t anymore. The only way beam has any utility better than dart is that once you are on the right person you don’t have to keep landing the spell to continue healing like Ana. All of these strengths to healing dart come on top of the fact that healing dart uses mana and doesn’t become useless after 10 seconds of healing.

I can also understand why you changed Morales’ trait since the way it was before was just a copy of Muradin’s trait. However, that gives morales yet another new and big weakness. Before the nerf she never had to worry about being harassed by hit and run heroes like Nova because she could just back off and let her trait heal herself. Now instead the only choice Morales has to heal herself is to stay close to an ally hero and heal them, which takes much longer to regen health than the old trait and can sometimes prove fatal if that ally hero doesn’t want to stand by structures, or to pop her 30 second cooldown 50% heal, something that should really be saved for when you get dove and not used for out of combat regen.

I loved Morales and spent a lot of time trying to get used to her new changes, and even though I like that she has an activatable self-heal now, I just can’t stand her anymore. Like I said before she has too many weaknesses and not enough strengths. The only way I can see an easy change to bring her back in line is to increase her trait healing, make her beam not go on cooldown after being stunned, maybe give her back a cleanse, and make her energy regen faster somehow. For example, Blizzard could just flat increase the rate at which energy regens when not casting, or Blizzard could change the way it regens entirely like lowering the total energy pool but have it regen all at once after like 5 seconds of not casting. Morales is just not a sustain healer right now and sustain healers are the meta, a meta that Blizzard has reinforced by coming out with more sustain healers.

I’m sorry for writing a book. I just wanted to articulate my thoughts as best I could. I think Blizzard should make the first sustain healer back into a sustain healer.

On the topic of Morales, Ana can only stun a max of 2 people on a 14 second cooldown.

Morales can hit 5 people away and has a 12 second Cooldown

And Morales has a level 4 that lets her health about 1/3 of her health over time unlike Ana who has no way of self healing.

Morales also has a way to prevent burst damage not only on her allies but herself as well.

If you check the number Morales heals for 172 health per second

Ana can heal 205 health every 2 seconds, this also implies that Ana will hit all her shots.

Ana is about healing he team in a pinch while also debuffing enemies.

Morales is more focused on pocketing allies and giving them buffs.

The only thing i wish for Morales if that she consumed less energy while healing.

Right now it’s 6 energy a second, which means Morales can only heal for 16 seconds before having to stop.

and this includes her entire team.

i feel as if Ana is more of a team healer while Morales pockets that one carry.

But the only request i have to buff Morales is too reduce her energy cost to 4 or 5 energy per second. This way she can heal for 20- 25 seconds until running out of energy.

This is so out of context, I love it.

She still does fine. She resists dive with E, and she self heals so I don’t know where you got that. Her self heal can be tweaked up a percent or two baseline, though. I usually pick the increased self-heal at 20 if the enemy team keeps focusing me. I still do fairly well with her, but she really is team-dependent. You have to have a competent team that understands your need for protection, and range. If they go off and dive half a map away you can’t do anything for them.

They changed this quite a while ago. Ana can now self heal by putting her poison on anything. (She can also grenade herself.)

I mainly wish we didn’t have to stop channeling in order to get back some energy (it could just start replenishing if the target is already full health). It’s an unnecessary action that I would better see automatic. I also wish her trait was reverted to what it was before, I hate relying on others people in order to sustain myself.

While it’s not as important I wish we still had some of the old talents, there were plenty of fun ways to customize you build (block, spell shield, repair drone…) all gone for generic “slightly improve that ability” talents.

Overall I’m not playing her anymore mainly because both the health and energy regeneration systems feel incredibly cluncky, while the old ones were fluid and felt nice to use.

I just want more utility talents.

Whoever thought the grenade quest with coupling talents to motivate you to constantly hit the enemy team with it was a good idea is just stupid. The rewards and payoffs are just so bad they aren’t worth taking, making her have less than 2 talents on some tiers, and then there are talents so conditional you have to remember what talents actually counter X heroes okishly.

There are so many dead or bad talents that will just frustrate your team with morales’s current build it’s just stupid. I get you can’t make grenades always work but there were some cool talents prior rework, like giving allies burning rage with healing, where is that???

Old morales main with 60% wn with her. Man you are opening a lot of old wounds with these posts. Lots of morales mains wanted old one.

I rly dont like energy. With old morales i was never outa mana due to knowing i need to restore mp before obj.Same as uther.So to me this was a simple nerf that means i cant outsustain enemy.Loosing a ability to stack armor was the second nerf that hit me hard.

Third and final one was the removal of cedecus 2.0.This was a INCREDIBLE talent.Even if you had 5% hp a few sec after it starts you got over 2k hp. This is incredible and new cedecus 2.0 is worthless compared to old one.1k extra hp before TF is also “NICE”.

All in all she is fun to play now but there are better supp then her. Same as malf. Can works but not worth the effort.There are more ez to play supp that are good at what she does and are less clunky to play.

Man these post rly hit me hard. She was the hero that made me into supp main.

Her playerstyle is rather boring. Doesn’t matter which talent tree I go for because they’re all pretty dull.
Her main utility is the removal of slow, knockback, healing, transporting, and stacking armor.
When the Armor stacking is removed, she’s is going to have difficulties surviving.
So for those of you who didn’t know-
Morales level 4 talent Tramura Trigger and Safeguard ability amps her armor to 60. Pretty powerful damage reduction in spell and physical defense for escaping heavy fire. It’s one of her most powerful talent tree combos early game. With stacking removed, so will the use of this combo, and it’s pretty good to survive with.
Her future doesn’t look good.
