So with the rumors that Microsoft is bringing the game back (Please, don’t taunt me with this)
How would you feel if HOTS was expanded beyond Blizzard characters, and it was home to all of Microsoft’s characters, to give a hint of what that could look like, we could potientially see…
Halo
Master Chief
Arbiter
Cortana Skin for Nova
Elder Scrolls
Sheogorath
Lifts-Her-Tail
M’aiq The Liar
Dragonborn skin for Varian
Fallout
Vault Boy
Butch DeLorean
Lily Bowen
FO1 Protagonist
Rare
Fulgore
Banjo
Conker
Rash
ID Software
Doom Slayer
BJ Blaskowitz
Commander Keen
Corvus (Heretic)
I would much rather they finish up what they have with the current universes before moving onto other ones: more voice lines, skins, avatars, maps, and balancing out the roster a bit by releasing heroes from the current universes that are lacking.
After that sure, start bringing in some iconic characters from other universes as well as creating maps. I can easily see an Oblivion Crisis map where both teams are fighting in the ruins of Kvach with the map objective revolving around bringing Mehrunes Dagon onto the field on their side to smack the fail out of the opposing team.
Halo’s been dead for a long time so yeah Master Chief would be fine
as long as Murky gets a grunt skin, MC gets the warthog for mount and his ult is a plasma nade
I would love a Doomguy suit for Raynor, and a Spiderdemon suit for Azmodan !
But all things considerate, I think I prefer to keep HOTS involved only with Blizzard properties. I would rather prefer the mix of all Microsoft IP’s in a brand new game, like a brawler or a racing game.
Oh I can see her in Crash Team Racing or Mario Cart. Being that she is a nut with the plague which would be used either for area denial or to really mess with the performance of other racers. Her whole thing could be her being incredibly fast and nible but being easily being bullied off the track if push comes to shove.
If not some sort of plague ability, then being a pain in the backside with traps.
Probably a mod or two out there already for that. There are for Skyrim as a selectable race and/or follower but none of her voice lines. Which is unfortunate as I would love to hear her sassing the snot out, well, everyone and everything.
I think Sylvanas in a racing game is more likely to happen than a proper resurrection of Heroes of the Storm ! Microsoft will probably want to cross all their famous IPs in one game at some point, as they start to have a pretty nice roster. And as they lack of family/party games, they might want to have their own “Mario Kart” or “Super Smash Bros”… With, for sure, some Blizzard characters in the casting. I do not find this scenario unrealistic.
Anyway, if bouncy-bounce ears appears in a racing game, I bet she would manage to break it, somehow
Not a blip on my end on a revival and I google searched for anything that would give even a sliver of hope. The most I got were articles written by people wondering if Microsoft may revive Heroes of the Storm and those were written months ago. Nothing on youtube either as far as I am aware of.
" We look at the back catalog from Activision and Blizzard, we get really excited about the things we can do. It’s early days, so we need to be talking to that teams that are fully staffed and working on things already. It’s not like ‘hey, there’s a spare team’ that you can just go and put on something. You need to make sure those teams have passion for what they want to go work on. I will say that the diversity in business models that we have in Microsoft Gaming really lets us supports different kinds of games, different sizes of games, and not every game we build has to be the kind of game that takes up all of your time."
“In the case of Blizzard games specifically, really what I’d want to do is work with Blizzard’s leadership to see where they have passion. I say all this, but I’m not at all suggesting that Blizzard doesn’t have passion for reviving franchises too, I know that from my visits to the team. They absolutely have the passion in this area. There’s a lot of excitement for possibilities that we can all do together. But also, I want our fans and customers to know that I don’t bring up games just to tease to no end … if people have watched how we’ve teased things in the past. There’s usually some kind of reconciliation of those hints later on … I’m not one to try and lead people on. It might not happen on the timeline that people would love, but usually when I tease, there’s something there”
So we do not learn much. But one thing I think I read between the lines is that now that Microsoft owns Blizzard’s IPs, they can use them even without Blizzard’s involvment in the developpement. That’s a massive change of paradigm.
HotS doesn’t have a team anymore to root for it, and Blizzard management have already shown they don’t much care for HotS. Also, when they talk about the back catalog, it includes a lot of things. But I feel like they’re mostly looking at Starcraft/Warcraft.
