the ftc court case pretty much deflated their defiance.
- e-mails came out that reveals that Jim Ryan had internally said that even if CoD went exclusive, they’d still be fine
- some examples of titles not going to Playstation from microsoft, like Minecraft, were due to Sony being uncooperative, not Microsoft refusing to port.
- the judge called out Sony on their double-standards for exclusive concerns
- the fear mongering on cloud game was bunk
- Microsoft pointed out that they’re the lower end of the “Console wars” and the FTC/Sony stance was trying to suggest that Nintendo was not a competitor despite them having a bigger market share than microsoft. (ie, microsoft has been ‘losing’ the “console wars” for 20 years)
There’s some other oops stuff in the mess, but the bottom line is that the FTC had the responsibility to demonstrate how the merger was anticompetitive and they did not do that. They pretty much revealed that the concerns Sony had were their own making, and they were just trying to blame anyone else for it.

Well, sadly, I still expect that Microsoft doesn’t even know this game exists.

Well as of this post (unless my case is an anomaly or fate wishes to go “sike!”) it appears that the update glitch has been removed with today’s maintenance. So, perhaps Microsoft is currently poking the coffin containing HotS corpse with a stick as of now while wondering how to go about resurrecting it.

Doubtful since they’re not involved with anything yet. And I still have the bug.
I thought it was too good to be true. I’ll guess I’ll find out for sure when I play tomorrow.
I had turned my PC on and off to then fire up HotS. Still no update glitch on my end. Slight delay before the play button highlights again though, but it is nowhere near as long as the update took to go through the motions.
So I dunno, maybe a witch doctor snuck in my house, performed an exorcism on my pc, and then snuck out while I was napping.

I opened and closed it 3 times and oh my god it might have been patched.
Will update if my hops get dashed.

Recently, I was gonna play with my brother, but for whatever reason it turnwd out we couldn’t, and I closed HotS again without starting a match.
The “update” didn’t happen next time.
But after next time we played, it did happen again.
So we ran some “tests”, and it seems that (at leeast for us) the fake update only appears the next time we launch Bnet after actually joining a match of HotS. If we run the game and close it (or close and open Bnet without running HotS), it stays “updated” without needing to download anything again.
Really weird, but maybe you should try that before getting your hopes up

I’d want to see more Overwatch heroes like Reinhardt, Moira, Zenyatta, Echo, Symmetra, Winston. Oh man that’d be great having a lightning weapon zap everything
And for more selfish reasons, I’d want to see a protoss adept to fill out the gateway roster (zealot, dragoon, dark templar, high templar, adept). Unfortunately, their phase ability is basically what Leoric has, but there can be more than 1 similar abilities, right?

Does the same on my end as well. It will not go through with the “update” unless I play a game and then exit.
Eh, they got it halfway fixed.
Finally, a map based around getting all the stolen sweet rolls as an objective.

Id be happy if they simply brought back events for this game. It would be such a simple thing but I doubt that would even happen.

This would be the perfect game for Microsoft to turn enhanced Copilot loose on and just let it run the game with a 5 employee studio (mostly to correct art errors). It would be perfectly balanced every time and we would get new stuff all the time. Use some AI model to port the game to a modern engine and get rid of battle.net. MS is fine just using UE in previous games but political bs with EPIC maybe cry would be better.
Or someone train a gamedev-focused AI model that you can just feed it assets and gameplay video and it will re/create the game.
Yes, it is that simple anymore.
