Medivh VS Abathur QM predetermined MU

This MU is unfair. Please remove from QM que parameters.

Medivh do support team, but he is very useless without heal support. Shield predictibility makes his easy to play, but there is no tank in most of his games. His best strengths are thus not properly displayed without a full drafted team. This means he is castrated without these components in his team. Heals are important for him early game to make his quest ding. He is the only one that loses all his quest progress baseline. After 10, his chances of getting quest is diminished at least two fold without playing completely selfless (pissing off team).

So to compare him to abathur. Abathur does not require heal, because he is not in fights. He does heal friendly heroes as opposed to Medivh, which gives opposing team heal advantage. When no tank teams are opposed he gives one or several assasin/bruiser survivability with heal/speed. He has global all game. And he gives the other team a global extra expendable health bar in team fights.

Also I am tired of this damn MU, because 50-90 of the games are auto drafted against him, giving opposed team big advantage solo que.

Please analyze my game statistics if you like.

I do agree that Medivh seems to be no match to Aba in QM. I’ve been on boss sides of this story and the conclusion felt always the same. Playing Aba or Medivh.

Aba can unsituationally heal. Aba can do so on every lane without the need of travel.
Aba has better PvE capabilities.
And if the slug has some nice dps to hat, with the lvl 16 movespeed he can outrun the distance advantage that the portals should provide to at least escape.

A true nightmare unless maybe it’s small map, where his global pressence can’t be abused.

Fun fact, I haven’t seen this match up in my last 100 medivh or aba gameplays (counting these heroes in my team). Haven’t even see mirrored support matches in a while as well.

I don’t think Abathur always smokes Medivh in QM. However, I do agree that they play different roles on a team. Having them mirrored in QM doesn’t make sense.

Reminds me of matchups like Varian vs Zarya in QM.

If he decides to go Taunt, one team has a legit full tank and the other has someone not really fit for solo tanking at all.

IMO, Varian/Aba have a clear advantage in both scenarios. Force of Will can also be nearly useless in matches with lots of slow damagers on enemy team like Lunara, whereas Carapace is valuable in just about every match (except vs super high burst heroes).

No wonder Zarya was made a Support and not a Bruiser (plus Varian was put into the “tank” category for QM).

But tbh, I like the looney tunes vibe rivalry of “the slug and the birb”

The other exception is when the Medivh has a hero on his team who can nuke the slug from anywhere on the map. I had a fun match as Artanis with a friend on Medivh, where I took Purifier Beam at level 10, and the Medivh went slug-hunting.

After two rounds of “laser to the face”, the poor Abby spent the rest of the match firmly parked in the Hall of Storms.

I agree it is very tiring to play this matchup. After the 10th game in a row where QM matches you against Aba + Zera/Sam/Illidan (without even being duo queues lmao) you start to wonder what is even the point. Why don’t they at least force Abathur to mirror match so that the games can at least be somewhat fair. God knows there’s enough Abathur in QM games to do it. Instead you can enjoy getting cheesed by Abathur while you get 0 CC.

Using medivh in QM used to not be a chore…when there was forced comps but i disgress.

Uh, looks like I can bring out my copypasta regarding QM again. All credit to original poster.

Repeat after me:

Quick Match is not Balanced.
Quick Match will not be Balanced.
Quick Match will NEVER be Balanced.

I don’t enjoy being blunt about it, but that is the hardcore fact that just is not getting through here. The problem is not that there are teams getting all sorts of CC while another isn’t, the problem is that the players are expecting all the benefits of drafting without actually drafting.

Seriously. Mobas with a large roster are designed from the start to go through a drafting process. You pick your team, you pick them to work together with each other, and hopefully develop some sort of overarching strategy to deal with the enemy team whether it’s hard lane pushing or dive compositions. In addition, you can also get the chance to ban characters that would pose a problem for your intended strategy.

That doesn’t take place with Quick Match. All that mode was designed to be was one where you could pick a character, and just be assured that you could play that character in the game that you got. It could be with a group of characters that work well, or it could be in a group that doesn’t. This also means that you get tons of players playing the characters that they want, rather than what the team needs… So you get a lot of hot-shot DPS players complaining they don’t get any help or healing because no one wants to go tank/healer.

Seriously, the problem is not the mode, it’s the people who don’t understand what the mode really is… Just a quick way to get into a match by completely bypassing the drafting process.

And every attempt to have the computer even attempt rudimentary drafting for you has just sent the queue times skyrocketing to the point where the devs revert them.

Repeat after me: Quick Match is not Balanced. Quick Match will NEVER be balanced.

Abathur is the cutest video game character I have ever seen
