The last 3 games when vs’ing Medivh, he’s always either 1st or 2nd on the damage scale.
I mean isn’t he support? Even the hots website state his damage is only 2/10 bars.
Does anyone see the damage trend with this hero?

That usually happens when you let him stack Master’s Touch quickly. Try to kill him before he can finish his quest, or try to avoid clumping up and giving him free stacks.
Dodge arcane rifts instead of eating everything.
Also abathur can top damage under certain conditions and i am pretty sure zarya also can if you feed her energy and facetank her laser.
Arcane Explosion
Fear the corrupted guardian. Everyone always underestimates the amount of sustain damage he can do.
You’re not giving much context here…
First off, supports were never really capped for damage… Unlike Healers the developers have never placed an intended DPS for this role. FYI Zarya can also easily top damage provided the right conditions, which is the same for Medivh. They’re more generalists that are meant to “fill” roles more, hence they can talent more easily for healing / shielding / damage, in which case Medivh is quite in line with Zarya and Abathur for that.
Second, Medivh primarily has two means of wracking up damage quickly. Arcane rift and Arcane Explosion, both of which are easily managed on your end. Arcane rift is a medium range skill shot, so be careful when in AA range or watch out for where Medivh positions the portal.
Whereas Arcane explosion is his talent for his Force of Will, the bubble, that is basically at melee range, and the damage can be further mitigated by minimizing the damage you deal to the protected target.
Meaning, Medivh’s damage is conditional and as you can tell from the range unless your team is very melee heavy most of it can be avoided and minimized. If he’s topping damage chances are you’re either using a melee heavy team or your team just doesn’t spread out often enough, in which case you’re pretty vulnerable to Kael’thas as well.
It’s literally the former grab bag of random heroes that don’t fit anywhere that “specialist” used to be. Just a lot smaller. I’m not sure how other people don’t see that. The role itself doesn’t mean much, as the five heroes contained within play nothing like each other, except maybe Tassadar and Zarya having similar shield powered mechanics.
He’s a mage and could aswell had been under “ranged assassins”. The only reason he is a support is because of “fairness” when creating QM matches.
His dmg comes from a spammy aoe skillshot. Ofc, he can top dmg numbers, but that’s a lot of times just statpadding tho.
Its all about the context.
In some scenarios medivh can easily top damage but in others he can be anywhere from mid to bottom . but if the medivh can do his job properly his damage should be in the upper half.
I view him more as a support/ assassin
He’s usually good vs tank heavy comps or melee.
This goes for After Master’s touch is done also.
The clumping up part.
Obviously if quest is done stacks are irrelevant.
They actually have a pretty absurd hitbox on them. Hes going to stack.
Thats actually pretty normal if you let him complete masters touch early and don’t split up in teamfights.
His sustain dps is pretty high if he can keep getting resets on his Q and hitting multiple targets with it.
Best bet is to apply preasure to him early game, try and kill him to reset his progress whenever it gets high. I typically try to make it so he never gets above 20 stacks. Don’t gank him when he is around 25-28 range since your just giving him a free completion at that point.
And spread apart in teamfights so he can only really hit 1-2 targets at most.
