Medivh’s power scales with the skill of his teammates. I am also a level 35 Medivh and I constantly have to adjust when i play him in Quickmatch. However I still have a good amount of success when i play him in solo queue quickmatch (I am at 66% WR this season).
If you are 17% this season there are probably a lot of things you could learn right away that will really help you to win some games. There was a recent thread that had some Medivh tips which I would recommend checking it out, below.
My quick and dirty advise would be:
- Finish master’s touch asap. Don’t worry about anything else before then.
- Once you finish your quest, try to mainly use your support abilities on your allies. The more you help your team, the more you enable them and the more they will trust you. And the more you will win.
- Don’t pick Arcane explosion and Circle of protection unless you feel your team has good coordination. You will get much more value out of Mystic assault and Enduring will.
- Pick Poly bomb only if there is a dangerous diver that must be shut down (Tracer, Genji, Valeera). Otherwise, you will want Leyline as it’s the higher impact heroic. Learn to use it well.
And regarding your priorities during the game, they should be:
- Provide vision for your team - under bushes, detect stealthed heroes (w/ dust of appearance), and monitor overall enemy team movements.
- Deal constant damage with Arcane rift whenever it is safe to do so.
- Shield your teammates from dangerous, predictable abilities (Pyroblast, Triple Tap, Pulse bomb, KtZ combo, etc).
- Use your portals for both escape and engage.
- Use your heroic to nullify a dangerous enemy (Poly bomb), or to help your team setup a wombo or help your team retreat (Leyline).
