Maybe do a skin idea contest?

If the resources are so limited, maybe give the community a chance to make cosmetics for the game? There is a lot of people who love this game and would love to contribute to it’s development, give them a chance to design skins, banners, mounts and make sprays!

Then start a popularity contest with winners as well as cosmetics chosen by the devs being implemented.

Smite does simple community cosmetics, this would make more people interested in the game while at least somewhat fixing the content drought problem.

Thoughts?

Is there going to be a paycheck in it for the skins that are chosen?

We had an offsite poll of amazing skins done by fans, which went largely unnoticed by Blizz. Dev/Artists have their hands tied and are not able to do what they want. I also believe that Blizz does not care for outside ideas, either because it becomes some sort of legal ownership thing or they just believe they are above all that.

I love the idea on its own merits, but I’m not sure that ideation is the bottle neck for the dev team. No matter what the community came up with, it is the devs who would have to transform it into actual skins and stuff – not sure what that all entails, but I am guessing it is what takes the most time and effort.

I don’t really know, but there probably should be a reward for having your cosmetics chosen. Giving the player keys of those items to give to their friends is the least that could be done in theory, maybe boosts or something if we wanna limit it only to in game rewards.

Winners could get something like merchandise and if anything is being turned into… let’s say merch, the creator gets a part of the profits (eh?)

Yeah you’re probably right, but it would still bring more attention to the game, which the game absolutely needs. Maybe that would also make the higher-ups consider starting to support the game more once again.

There were cosmetic contests iirc, fanmades. And ppl are free to suggest and share skinideas.

Janitor Leoric, Azmodunk and maybe even more are fan favourites and creations.

I don’t think it’s up to the developers or us for that matter. Don’t get me wrong community created content would be great, but for some reason ABK refuses to ever give us an editor tool for HotS.

I assume it’s because of greedy he who shall not be named but :tipping_hand_man:

Unless your last name is Kotick, no.

Those types of rewards don’t pay the bills for my hard work. While they are using my work to make a profit to pay their own bills. So if there is no money, I’m not interested.

Can I legally change my name to Kotick, kick out the real Kotick, and get bonuses so I can pay Blizz employees and break free from Activision?

Well if you don’t want to that’s fine. But don’t expect me to think of every part of the idea suggested, I’m not a businessman and really don’t know what would be the best way to do this

I’m not trying to put you down or anything. Your idea is a nice one, but realistically, I don’t think it’s a good one. People will oppose your idea to show you the problems with it so that you can refine your idea to be better.

It’s not just me that expects money for their work. There are people out there that will do it for free, but that is an extreme minority. As I mentioned and others mentioned that there have been fanart and ideas with polls and such. They love the game enough to make art for it, but not for free.

If the artists do it for no money they will require some form of recognition. Credits so others can find them and know them. Blizz doesn’t do this. They will just claim the idea theirs. Giving the artists in-game rewards won’t do anything to further their position monetarily or professionally.
