Mal’Ganis and Illidan both have lifesteal traits, and revolve around being in the middle of the enemy to keep fighting. MG is tank who uses armor, while Illi relies on speed and dodging instead. I was wondering why MG seems works so well while Illi is rarely viable, and I think I’ve figured it out: cooldowns. MG has very short cooldowns, and the addition of armor means he can take hits and cover mistakes. Meanwhile, Illi specifically has longer cooldowns because he gets to reduce them on hit. However, this means if he gets stopped and can’t hit anything, he’s just left vulnerable. Not only does he not get his lifesteal sustain, but he’s left crippled by his long cooldowns necessary to his survival.
Biggest difference. Illidan relies on dodging as you say to stay alive, but some CC and burst damage kills him really fast. whereas Mal Ganis can take some hits.
Illidan is more of a chase down heroes type of character, like Genji or Tracer but with a little more hp some healing and not as much damage as those 2.
-Mal ganis has 2 readily available CC, Illidan has 1 that’s a heroic.
-Mal Ganis starts with 2700 hp , Illidan has about a 1000 less.
-Malganis has several heals from abilities and attacks,
-Illidan requires AA to heal for the most part, if he’s blinded he gets no healing unless you talent into it and his abilities do very low damage except for marked for death at 16.
Really your best bet with illidan is to talent into high damage AA abilities with things like battered assault and blades of azenoth if you want to dive into teams or don’t pick him at all if they have alot of blinds or CC.
Illidan does have his place though, against a mainly AA heroes, like Varian, Raynor, Butcher, Greymane, I find he’s pretty solid if evasion is used well.
Mal’ganis is in need of some sreious nerf, be it with CD increase (Fel Claws to 10s and the follow up to 1 second), his life must be reduced and some talents need to shifted (His main tank build revolves around lvl 1, 4 and 7 strong life steal abilities which most players have no counters against up to that level). On top of that, his sleep run needs to have the time up reduced and him speed reduced. Its too strong and engage and an escape and you can only kill him by totally shutting him down (more then 2 CCs at a time).
He’s a very OP Tank mainly due to his abilities. He can make mistakes and be VERY agressive without fear of actually dieing if going too deep inside the enemies backline. Hell, if he messes up, he just night rushes out of a situation without any possibility for any team without a CC up to counter him, and he can resist so much damage that its almost impossible to actually try and dive his backline (since he just fel claw everyone to safety).
Other tanks establish some sort of frontline that once breached is very hard for them to recover. Mal’ganis is on the frontline and can safely save people in the backline, undo a situation completely and in the process, turn the fight around.
Mostly due to his fel claws stunlock of multiple heroes on a 8 second CD. Uther doesnt have this (1 stun only per 8 sec), Blaze doesnt have this (multi stun and he’s stuck in there), even Tyrande’s stun is a skillshot. Mal’ganis is the easiest stun to apply and can be played reckelessly because he can night rush out of a bad situation and start getting health back as soon as he reinitiates the fight (HE does that, most tanks can’t do that).
He’s a catastrophic launch, most games hes in is a win (QM here) and on HL/TL, IF he’s chosen (he’s mostly banned unless the banner is stupid), the enemy team has now to build AROUND countering Mal’Ganis, and solely Mal’Ganis.
He needs some serious nerfing. Badly.
Dude, only the third cast of fel claws stuns, thats 1 stun every 8 seconds, just like uther. Malganis stun is melee range and shorter than uthers ranged stun tho.
How can a guy with a 0.75 stun every 8 second stunlock you all by himself???
