And keep dumbing down the game? Nah, learn to count to 5, its not that hard
Explain how showing the duration of a giant aoe timestop is dumbing down the game.
Gonna anwer in another way: stealh rework
To be fair it would dumb down the game. For high end player it makes no difference but for low end player it makes it substantially easier to follow up on VP on either side. If you put timer you require much less awareness from players and shorten the gap between good and bad players which is very negative thing.
People need to see the clock, and if possible, with green yellow and red numbers, oh, and a sound alarm as well
Because QoL changes are bad now apparently.
The only thing I could see as being a reason not to do this is that Void Prison can be closed early by Zeratul. So the timer could cause issues on that front.
I don’t mind if they add it myself.
I didn’t even have to click on this topic to know that the replies would mostly be negative. People like shutting down any kind of ideas for whatever reasons, it makes them feel good, even when the suggestions, like this one, makes sense
this argument could be said about many changes currently in the game. Just about anything the game tracks for you could have this argument applied to them, including damage, mana and health status/numbers. I’d throw this in the QoL category. While it’s true that this is technically about game knowledge, it’s not knowledge that actually indicates skill or anything really aside from familiarity.
If I might use an example here:
Knowing that it takes, say, 4 hits from a 200 meat butcher to kill a full health valla(arbitrary example, idk if it’s true) = something gained by experience, awareness and skill
Knowing that VP lasts 5 seconds and counting = very basic knowledge literally explained to you by the game. a perma-bronzie can learn this given enough time.
I mean, like I said, I don’t mind it being added.
I just pointed out the only possible negative imo, the confusion that it ending early could cause.
I’m not against it, but isn’t the point of a VP that the Zera opens it up early for Combo damage? If Zera is not dead, then timimg should’nt be an issue. It is only nice to know in case he locks them out, instead of preparing them.
Counting to 5 isn’t hard, but unless you’re the Zeratul you typically don’t know exactly how long it was since the countdown started, especially if he cast it outside your normal vision. Did he activate it a second ago? two? Half? It’s easy to get a rough estimate, but even being half a second off can make the difference between missing your combo completely (because VP is still up), hitting the wombo combo or failing because the enemy had enough time to get away.
it’s not a quality of life improvement if it ruins the whole point of the ability
being able to cancel it early and the lack of predictability from the player casting it is what makes this spell amazing, also the amazing combos you can achieve with it if the user is focusing on what his team is doing and is able to cancel it at a right moment, most Zeratul players will cancel the ability early as they see their teammate’s ability animations starting so what’s the point in everyone seeing a 5 second timer, because most of the times it won’t even time out on its own
for everyone to have an additional visual representation of the duration would just dumb down the game, if not even negatively affect Zeratul himself
What for? Zeratul can cancel it at will and canceling VP early or not should be a skill any zeratul should practice.
Now gorge may maybe use a timer to be consistent with other abilities of the same type.
This would be a good quality of life change…
A change that doesn’t affect higher levels but helps people out in lower levels? How could that be considered a bad thing? Make the game more enjoyable for some without affecting it for others? That’s a clear net positive.
I don’t care about the void prison issue either way, but it’s weird for me to see people call this kind of change “dumbing down the game.”
Rofl at these people trying to boost their ego
Because it means having more skill goes unrewarded thus feeding even further to one of cardinal sins HoTS has which is less individual impact.
If the Zeratul can’t remove Void Prison before the Ring of Frost or other combo ability hits, it serves them right for losing the match. If you picked this hero for comboing different heroic abilities, waiting the full 5 seconds is not how you do it.
