It’s been a little over 2 years since Tyrande’s faithful rework from an interesting hybrid dps/support to a main healer. Since her rework into a plain healer, we’ve seen many talent adjustments and tweaks to end up with…a boring healer who is not meta anyway.
I used to be a Tyrande main in her hybrid dps/support work…and to be honest I still miss it. I’ve played Tyrande in her current kit…and it is just boring. I feel she is out-classed by other healers making her sort of pointless.
And so I revive an old wish…scrap the boring healer Tyrande and bring her back to her previous kit where she was fun and interesting.
To this day, I still feel it was the worst rework ever done.
Well, you see, she’s not exactly bad judging by her base build. She has global vision/poke, ranged 0.75s stun, instant armor loss, big AoE mild slowing and global insta-stealth + HoT. Through talents, she can obtain:
AoE AA dmg bonus
Trait granting % healing per AA for allies and self
Q granting spell armor
Q granting movement speed
(Global) damage reduction from W
E CDR thru trait
Q soft cleanse
W dealing % dmg
Direct dmg reduction to enemy heroes w/ AA
I am not disagreeing with you. I loved her previous iteration, but she was simply too niche at what she represented in a team.
Thinking a hero is bad/undertoned is subjective until the consensus becomes widespread fact.
Its kind of a double edged sword, she does have a bit more utility now than she did before, but lost all of the damaging builds she used to have. Having 30 basic attack damage at level 1, and about 150 at level 20… thats not gonna do any significant damage, even with talent boosts.
That rework is more of an overhaul, rather than small adjustment it is supposed to be (i guess). Entire playstyle is differnet now, compared to what it was, its arguable if its for better, or worse.
I personally agree with you, I used to like old Tyrande better.
New Tyrande is boring as hell!
Snipe Owl Tyrande was so fun and satisfying.Hunter Mark 25% armor reduction was much better.Damage Tyrande was different and cool.
Now she is a mediocre healer with no real inceptive to play her.
Now this is the error. ARAM is a completely unique mode with own builds that doesn’t work in other modes.
Same goes with some heroes. Tyrande is one of them
So she IS weak in ARAM? i’m not just beyond trash at playing her?
Cus man is it demoralizing getting abuse hurled at me for “trash healing” when i get the only healer pick and its tyrande, and people expect me to outheal double kaelthas + tassadar
For as long as I’ve been playing the game Tyrande has either been mediocre or overpowered.
When Shadowstalk was a budget Bloodlust at 20 she was pretty bonkers.
Tyrande + Diablo meta was a thing for a while.
Tyrande being able to solo ranged assassins was a thing for a while.
The utility in her kit makes it hard to balance her without giving her blatantly strong numbers.
Aram favors AOE and it punishes heroes who usually need to attack because it’s very difficult to do that when both sides are grouped and will jump on the weakest link of the enemy team.
Tyrande wants to aa people, that’s not so good with her squishy body and lack of any kind of protection aside from proactive stuns.
Especially good healers in aram are Anduin (speed of the pious), Stukov, Auriel, Alex and Whitemane if you’ve got a few frontliners so you can safely get into E range.
Medic can be good because Safeguard is stupid good for keeping your teammates alive through focus fire and starts off pretty strong so you don’t need a lot of talents to improve your healing. Not to mention what Stim does for both the damage and self healing of frontliners like Imperius and Artanis.
Rehgar is so-so. Bloodlust is OP in straight up 5v5 teamfight scenarios but his mana management and baseline chain heal can be very difficult to work with if your team refuses to not face tank all the poke damage.
Tyrande’s in the same boat. Her baseline healing kind of blows, especially if you’re not getting free attacks in. If the rest of your team didn’t draft dudes that can manage their own HP then you’re not going to have a fun time. Otherwise you’re gonna have to bank on her utility and pray that your team can focus fire enemies properly.
Also wouldn’t take her owl talents because you’re gonna have a rough time trying to snipe anyone when they’re generally keeping an eye on you. Putting your talents into the skillshot can be really “selfish” since your team isn’t benefitting much from it if no one can secure the kills.
Most notably you’re skipping Stun range and damage at 1, and like most quest talents in aram it’s very easy to complete in a timely manner, and Trueshot Aura which can be vastly helpful for increasing your team’s overall dps.
And at 16 you’re skipping cleanse on Q. There’s almost never a case where you want to skip cleanse, unless the draft got really messed up and your enemy team has a complete and utter lack of CC like 2 limings, a lucio, a alex and a cassia.
Lunar Flare for poking, but don’t develop habits of picking select talents regardless of comps.
Learn a hero’s talent tree in and out, then take a good look at both teams before you start deciding on your build.
Lunar Flare at 1 is great for securing kills from a comfortable range and can burst down heroes looking to run away. Trueshot Arua might be a better pick if you’ve got a lot of beef on your team and rather than a little additional burst damage and range since you shouldn’t have too many problems staying at arms length and poking. Or if you have more than a few AA heroes on your team.
A straight Q build isn’t a bad choice in most scenarios because the movespeed it grants at 13 can often cause them to dodge a lot more damage than you can heal and if you don’t think you’ll be getting into range to reset your Q then magic armor at 7 is pretty good for mitigating poke damage and in emergencies it stacks to make them resilient to focus.
