Honestly, with the way the game is going I see no reason why the 30 day free hero event should stop. Just focus monetization on lootboxes and stims.
In a way, I think it would make HotS more accessible to new players.
On the other hand, I hate the idea of even more Abathurs flooding in as he is already a bit too omnipresent.
If it excluded âVery Hardâ heroes, itâd be great. Thereâs only a couple of them anyway.
Let people buy the 3 or 4 Very Hard ones with gold or gems. Hardly a big sacrifice. Not like a newbie should be jumping in with Medivh or Abathur anyway.
HOTS should have gone the free heroes route a long time ago. This game would have been massively more successful with the free heroes.
Maybe they can do it like the PTR, where itâs everyone except the most recent five.
Make every Easy and maybe Medium Hero free to play. But strict SL so ppl can only play Heroes that are at least lvl 5.
Now the game is more beginner friendly, while Smurging is less problematic and ppl canât try out Heroes there.
Make ALL of them free. The hard heroes are the ones you would want to practice more of in a casual game. Maybe make it so you have to get to lvl 5 before you can play them in comp. but this game isnât a serious game and blizz gave up on it 3 years ago. Lets stop kidding ourselves.
Shapshifter, you just wrote everything I intended to, you often do this!
There was a flood of terrible, dreadful Abathur players over those few weeks. I too think all free heroes would help grow the game, just put limits on heroes with high difficulty, Medivh, Abathur, Maiev, Hanzo, etcâŚ
I agree to access for all heroes, but they should add the requirement of lvl 5-10 for heroes for SL again, because itâs a pain to play SL with players, who plays their level 1-3 heroâŚ
And the monetization model should be revamped to pre 2.0 or even better to Dota 2 model.
Start renaming the game Heroes of the Abathur. That is what i felt when i had 4 games in a raw the first few days after were i had Aba in all four games.
But what can you do. The hero is very popular. But only about 10% of the people who plays him actually know how to play him right. Meanwhile the rest are just bad Abas that dont even place mines and hide in spawn 90% of the game.
I had the same, I think it was more than 4 in a row and many of them were mirror matches. Iâm not sure what makes people so crazy to play Abathur? Before HElSENBERG tells me, yes I know itâs because in part thatâs heâs so cute.
Itâs more like âHeroes of the Warcraftâ or âHeroes of the Li Mingâ.
Ming will always reign. Flashy spells, mobile (for a mage), sassy attractive hero. She also seems to attract those who love, love, love that passive full orb spam playstyle.
Speaking of Li Ming, anyone knows why she stopped counting her killings?
Because she does too much of that, counting makes no sense anymore.
The reason is, no more people picking a hero they only used twice in ranked mode. I canât see how they would make more money from removing the option of buying characters.
Well the game is gonna die anyway, so why not making all heroes free-to-play?
And, you are right.
I hate that.
I wish Blizzard would say we need to make X amount of money to keep HOTS running and actively being developed and had a counter of how much needed is left.
But then Activision would let it work correctly for 1 month, then start adding to how much is needed just so squeeze every last drop of cash out of HOTS.
If Blizzard was transparent more, people would be more willing to help. But the problem is Activision and tons of people dislike their business practices,
I am not an economist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn.
I think itâs a good idea. It will make new playerâs experience easier.
Bleh⌠QM is rough enough with every game having someone experimenting with a new hero.
If you really want to try a new hero⌠maybe buy some gems so blizzard can afford more than 1 developer on this game.
