I claim that it is Tyrael for many reasons. He was in the original trailer, so is clearly the angel most associated with the game right from the start. He is a tank, the best role in the game, and his voice actor is so buttery smooth, I could listen to him read a list of the paint colors at our local Home Depot and be entertained. And if you need more evidence that Tyrael is the best angel in HotS:

I like all roles, so on this one it’s between him and Auriel.
Yes the most buttery of all, gives you cholesterol just listening for five seconds.
Auriel would be my other choice, like Tyrael she team dependent. They are both better for coordinated play. Imperious is no contest, he is so arrogant and rude I often forget he’s not supposed to be a demon.
Malthael is a fallen angel, so he’s in a catagory of his own.
Oh, so yes, Tyrael wins with Auriel a close second. Hoku you did make this rather hard to argue against! 
While I love Tyrael as a character and is my favorite angel in Diablo, I unfortunately don’t think he measures up in HotS. He’s really lacking compared to other tanks (no hard cc, extremely mana hungry, etc). He’s still a good “support” hero with his shields and speed buffs, but outside Sanctuary being one-trick invincibility even Imperious feels like he’d be a better tank at times.
I’d have to give it to Auriel. Her heals may be team dependent, but a healer should be supporting their team anyways. And if you’ve got a good team keeping her powered, she can outheal anyone else in the game. And Resurrect is great for teamplay, and literally play- making it so someone doesn’t have to sit and wait on a deathtimer.

Imperius by far. He was in a trailer fighting Diablo, he said Sacrilege, and, umm…
I give up. Tyrael is the real head angel (at least until/if Itherael is ever released and we know anything about him) as well as a major character/quest giver since Diablo 2 days.
Both his heroics are also fun and effective. I don’t really like Imp’s jump ult.

I think both Imp and Malth are better angels than Tyrael (plus Auriel a “best girl”).
Imperius has better lines, cooler (actually hotter) look and a really fun kit.

No he cannot protecc. But he makes for a great himbo. I vote Impo.
Tho Mecha skins look nice and they have really dope HeroSpecific Mounts and HS animations, I’m not a fan of them, because scifi. Demons are hotter
