Continuing the discussion from Chen's "rework" feels weaker:

YAAAAAH MAKE CHEN STRONG AGAIN!
I VOTE FOR STRONG CHEN OR UNINSTAL!

the information from the “stagger” tease during the blizzard AMA seems to strong, we should nerf Chen’s damage by 50% to compensate for the upcoming change

no, that’s not hitting Chen where it hurts him.

We should reduce his HP by 75% to make him value his shields more, and be more inclined to drink.

Maybe reduce his quests.
The health quest is great when facing poison heroes, it just terrible since it does not have much else to offer for a quest stack that high.
The Flames maybe should be on baseline quest since it’s pretty dull even when finished.
I like chen, but he only has two talent builds that work decent at best, and Dragon shrine top solo lane is only position. Which isn’t that great compared to other meta solo laners like Rexxar, Yrel, Imperius, Thrall, and Dehaka.
Something in his kit needs to be directly effective.

I like the idea of adding an immovable mechanic that negates displacement effects (stuns, silence still apply) it makes his D a little less cancelable. Someone on the old forum mentioned that one

So for eg, haymaker, tych grenade medic grenade no longer displace or cancel his D. Johana condemn would still interrupt since there is a mini stun

Chen’s effectiveness should be directly correlated to how much alcohol the player themselves has consumed. Every Chen main is sent a USB breathalyzer that they periodically blow into throughout the match. The higher their BAC, the higher their damage output and armor rating.

If a chen is sober they turn into li li until they start drinking again.

Globes is insanely good on Braxis, I think Chen has an easier time on Braxis than DS tbh regardless of build (but globes is insane on braxis). And he’s less safe than Yrel/Thrall but he beats them both in lane.

Acc. Flame armor component is insanely strong, and the damage noticable. It would be a pretty big buff tbh, it might make his popularity and winrate shoot up but not in a balanced way even if they split the components into baseline damage/armor talent imo.

Right now that is his drinking. He is reaaaaally good at that kind of damage mitigation coupled with his ability to punish a lot of those heroes who deal the kind of damage drinking is good against. The problem is how practical that actually is, so he isn’t 100% balanced around the niche of damage-over-time/low interrupts teams/low mobility teams, but once he does go up against his niche he’s absurdly strong. I’ve always wanted a damage stagger. I’m curious how they’d adjust the offensive parts of his kit, or if they would much at all, in order to even out his performance against more kinds of teams.

Sometimes it feels like he does no damage, and that boils down to either there being better bruisers for the role (killing really tanky people) or he just can’t commit to dealing damage to certain teams because he is so squishy to their type of damage/engage. He doesn’t need to be good against all teams or on all maps, but having him be more than a hero that you pick because the stars align and this niche hero is an unkillable god against the enemy team/it’s Braxis would be a plus.

In his current state, he drinks too much as is, even when not fighting in the nexus :SadPanda:
