I feel like when I play her I don’t do anything of meaning, I have high hero damage but nothing dies and health bars don’t seem to drop far
I’m poking, playing differently and trying different builds but I feel like I don’t have any power till level 20 which doesn’t feel good when most games end before 20
Lunara actually deals a ton of damage, especially late game. She can literally blot out over half of some Tanks’ healthbars with her combo after level 20.
Her damage output is nothing to scoff at, it just takes a while for it to really start hitting hard.
Idk if any Lunara player noticed it, but her rework gave her tons of PvE dmg in the early game (Nature’s culling 4). So she actually does no meaningfull dmg in team fights early game, at least till 7 and 16.
But…on the solo lane, her DoT and either the PvE talent or the Siphoning talent makes her a real bully vs most solo lane chars. Trait can shave off the sustain heals, and there is time on the solo lane.
And if she is left alone (like noone rotates while solo laner takes a camp) Lunara can destroye the front defences and the fountain in like 8-10 sec.
And she has the LunaRadar talent on 1 so she can keep an eye out for rotations on her
Some maps i found her getting more value just by pushing a lane than participateing in team fights.
While both are very different, Raynor is the better Lunara.
On the other hand it would be a bad idea to significantly buff Lunara since she is the best ranged hero to kite and be annoying with. I think it’s fair to state that she is basically not for everyone and very strong with 16 and OP with 20.
As long as the meta doesn’t shift she will be a niche pick. That’s because meta healers are good against poke (and some of them against burst as well), so the people still play burst assassins or assassins with more utility than the wisp offers.
Lunara is a tricky hero. How I eventually made her potent was
Early game:
Landing solid Noxious Blossom (Q) on multiple heroes followed up with Crippling Spores (W) softens up enemies making them less committed to team fights, this buys your team some time.
Mid game:
Go AA burst build this is where she becomes strongest, still need to pick ur targets well and push towers.
Late game:
Her AA burst tappers off significantly, picking squishy targets becomes a focus if you want to make big plays.
its all about context,
but she excell slowly/quickly in many cases, where she can just chip away someone’s health .
due to the fact that goes by trait and not by skills, it makes her a better fit for long term fights or poke games.
also, if you were to play her vs a team without healers, i can promise you, if you play her well, the enemy team is going to hate you , just a few AA will leave their DPS at half health and they will constantly pressing B to heal lol
She is pretty bad in higher skill games. DoT is weakest form of damage and she needs level 20 to be on even ground with other AA heroes even after the buffs she has had. She runs the same problem HoTS has had in general, either balance the game from plat plebs or balance around skilled players. If they balance around skilled players she becomes dominant vs plebs. Balance around plebs and nobody picks her among high skilled players because they want the best heroes. It’s not like Lunara has zero reason get picked as she does get picked occasionally as there are times you want unstoppable on your AA hero and she has that with leaping strikes.
Lunara is actually my favorite hero and has been since I started playing about a month ago. At first she felt difficult to use just due to her movement and how well positioning needs to be but after I got the hang of it a little more it’s actually crazy how she can chip away at a team and wear them down.
Her ability to wear down the other team does come a little slow at first but something to keep in mind is that once you have natures toxin on a target you can activate crippling spores at any time so long as those poison dots are still active and when you do they’ll be refreshed. You can do this from anywhere on the map too so even if you let someone run off and they have toxin on them, wait for crippling spores to come off CD and hit it again, sometimes you’ll get a very delayed kill if they haven’t healed or been cleansed.
Another thing that helps is taking the talent Broken Spear(although most of her talents from my experience thus far are actually quite useful in different situations) to quite literally dot everyone in the area up, then alternating targets to spread the poison further and faster.
I could go on but I think part of the biggest challenges with her from my experience was just getting her movement thing figured out. Once you get used to her hopping and WHEN to strike your damage will go up and you can start pushing her potential more and more. Once you start keeping track of your poisons she becomes an insanely fun hero to play.
One final note is that Lunara seems to do better when she’s with other heroes and doesn’t do as well by herself until you get the talent Let them Wither(if you take it) where you can slow people without decay. She really does seem to excel in situations where other players are either trying to flee and you can chase them down, or when other heroes are already in a weakened state and you can finish them off. Her poison is useful for finishing people off but it’s also useful for just softening heroes up for your teammates.
Ayhow, hope this helps and keep at it, you’ll get better with her and things will start to get fun.
i agree on that. if she does instant damage + can run faster than all the heroes + scout and no one can outrun her normally… that would be a bit too much considering she can kite you for days as a melee and her ganks are pretty deadly since she can slow you down as her other teammate also attacking you… and when she focus on the healers oh god they’re long gone~ so yes instant damage = too much
In all honesty I would be sad if she did too much instant damage aside from the fact she’d probably be too OP at that point as others have stated.
Part of the magic with this hero and what I love is that she is a damage over time hero and has some instant damage but it’s mostly only used in certain situations(leaping strike).
Because something doesnt work on the 0,1% does that mean she is bad on all ranks?
I believe she was one of the higher winrate heroes on masters according to 3th parties sites
yeah it wouldn’t be ok if she does instant damage. she would become cancerous due to her being able to kite you to death and attack speed / % damage… she can already kill people so easily so imagine with instant damage on her abilities / AA?
Lunara is versatile. If you need to poke, Q build is good and does decent damage. AA build can be brutal at 16. You can take additional range or % based damage to melt bulky heroes. It sounds like your taking the poison build. A pure sustain damage build isn’t always great. Try mixing up the build with more burst by taking leaping strike or go % damage at 16. This should help.
(Aoe) Dot Heroes are usually not about getting the kills but to annoy the Healers out of mana and existence.
But with Leaping Strike, I feel she has nice dmg, plus she also has really nice dmg talents on lvl 16.
