So, some people were curious about it, or just found it weird that I had so many boxes lying around. (To Minky’s great horror).

So originally. I would keep my boxes until there was an item I wanted. Especially hero boxes. For example, I had Tracer’s Spectre skin that I used all the time, so I wasn’t looking for anything until her Herald skin was released. Then I opened my Tracer boxes and got that skin in the first one. (I can’t believe I was ever poor enough to only have 90K gold)

I kept my Ragnaros boxes for the same reason, until eventually I just didn’t open them out of spite.

More seriously, your technique for farming specific items, is probably more effective than my compulsion to instantly open chests as soon as they drop.

I could get you some green Tea for that. I have 9 different kinds (I’m keeping the Matcha for myself)

Unfortunately, that strategy is no longer useful :frowning:

While I don’t have more loot boxes than you, my collection does have another property that might make it interesting, it currently contains 103 unique boxes.

The reason I started collecting unique chests is partly that it’s fun and partly to showcase how bad the “inventory management” is.

Nice! I used to collect one of each type of chests, since I liked looking at them. But then I figured “Meh, they’ll make more later” So I opened my Mechastorm chests (My favorite type.) :frowning:

Really loved the Toy chests too.

I’m impressed you kept the Welcome chest. Takes some willpower to keep that one.

Do you hoard material goods in real life too? Just curious if there’s a correlation.

Digital hoarders are a thing that exists. However, the studies I’ve read indicate only a small overlap between virtual and physical hoarding behaviors.

I’m (not) offended.
My parents are excessive hoarders and thus I can both copy and oppose it.

There is one big difference between the two. There are 2x2 levels of hoarding:

  • Buying | Keeping
  • Stuff you don’t Use | Have room for

While it’s possible to accumulate unmanageable amounts of digital goods, it normally doesn’t result in a physical issue (even if you have a rack of 20 HDDs, it’s like 5 books).
It is also a practical replacement for physical hoarding. “I have stuff.”

There is another dimension, effort. Physical goods require continuous effort to maintain (keep clean, stash, get around) while digital goods often cost way more to organize.

For example I have a significant collection of pictures and music. It’s fun to browse them randomly, bring back memories, or have my own Spotify. I do occasionally come across crappy stuff and delete it. Otherwise, leaving it be is way easier.

It may sound funny but imagine that you’d want to maintain up to 1000 likes on Youtube, no matter what. Or friends on Facebook. If you come across +1, you must ditch one. It’s simply inefficient to not hoard.

Well, since I don’t see his replies, all I saw was my topic popping up randomly.

I don’t remember when I put him on ignore, But I know I had a good reason. I’m fine with him writing whatever he wants, I’ll never see it.

You should do the same.
