Long Queue Times

Did anyone else notice a few weeks ago where 1 day we had insanely fast queue times, and then for weeks afterwards it was all 300+ seconds for every game, every day? Am I the only one who thinks blizzard messed with the queue time, and some coder was like, oh yea I can make that better, and some idiot told him NO NO, make it slower!

Yes, you are. I didn’t noticed sth. like this at all and the solution to your problems might to not playing in time, where almost none plays, but choose the better time to play, except you’re on a low pop region, then you are screwed, because this game is simple not popular compared to other mobas.

Yeah, it’s just delusional to say Blizzard is intentionally making the ques slower. Why on Earth would they do that?

Very slow ques happen out of peak times and on low pop servers simply because not enough people play the game.
If you play during odd hours of the night, very long ques can happen on US and EU too.
That isn’t the coders problem or issue. That’s the company’s issue for not advertising the game and letting it slip into a Classic.

You’re no doubt not the only one who thinks things like that, unfortunately. There are many tin foil hat theories about HOTS, matchmaking and queue times.

A few weeks back someone posted on these forums that Blizzard was deliberately putting “bots” into matches to make HOTS seem more popular than it really is…

I play on the US server, queue times for ARAM are almost instant at any time of the day, the same is mostly true about QM. If you’re speaking about ranked, outside of very high or very low MMR brackets the queues are usually under 5 minutes unless you’re playing well out of peak hours.

Other things that can affect your queue time is which hero you are playing and your MMR. They try to avoid mirror matches (obviously not always possible), so if you are playing someone popular, like Li-Ming or Nazeebo, you may have to wait until all the other Mings and Zeebs ahead of you in queue get placed into matches.

They also try to match MMR, note “try”, so if you are at a very high or low MMR, it may be hard to find others at your skill level and it will have to broaden the search to find a game.

Yes they can. I’m a programmer, I know how these things work. Ever wonder why you and a friend can solo queue, be in that queue for a long time and both of you get separate matchups? Everything is run by code.

Because you have separate MMR’s or you picked two heroes which are already picked by many people in the que?

You can’t know “which” que you are in. Queuing at the same time does not mean you are going to get put in the same game.

So what would be the incentive to do something like that? Why on earth would a gaming company want to create an unpleasant environment? The main problem with tinfoil hattery is that it usually misses out on reasonable motives to focus on weird, trivial data points.

I’m gold 5 and my average wait time is 646 seconds at 3PM EST. So yea… you’re dumb

Ah, just trolling. Never mind, then.

How about to make people not want to play their old games and buy/play their new ones?

What new game? Diablo 4 isn’t even out yet, Overwatch 2 is in development, Hearthstone was released before HotS was. WoW was released before some HotS players were even born. SC2 has been relegated to a Classic too.

HotS is the new game (if remasters like d2 or wc3 don’t count). Overwatch is slightly newer (by 1 year) but people aren’t hopping in masses from HotS to that game.

These theories just make no sense, sorry.

Your few posts does not show any evidence of that.

For someone who calls himself for an educated enginere you get tilted fast when the true is told.

This forum poster knows something and he/she is properly not even an enginere.

What mode? I can only guess ranked as you said Gold, what server? In your words, it is dumb not to provide relevant information. If you’re Gold 5 on the US server trying to get into ranked, I have no idea why your queue times would be so long at 3PM. I’m plat so there are fewer people in my MMR range than are in yours at Gold and at 3PM I’ve never had to wait longer than 5 minutes.

If you feel this way, what was the point of even posting? Did you just want to monologue and have people validate your opinion/theory? This is a discussion forum, if you pose questions and put forth theories expect to have them challenged and discussed.

Nobody was rude to you, so there is no need to go around calling people “dumb” for providing a different viewpoint from yours.
