Good morning Heroes!

There is some new content coming right around the corner and I wanted to take a quick minute to share something that will be entering the Nexus shortly - Loan Talents. Here is a sneak-peek at one of them:

Divine Fortress

  • Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes grant 15 Physical Armor for 3 seconds, stacking up to 60.
  • Loan: Johanna gains 20% maximum Health. Lose 5% of this bonus every time she dies.

The idea behind these was to give fairly substantial up-front power spikes that can either help carry you to victory or potentially lose potency over time - think of them as sort of ‘reverse-quests’. Play smart and they can be extremely powerful over the course of the game, but know that by choosing it, you also put a pretty substantial target over your head… cough, Convection, cough.

Anyways, the team is excited to see what you think about these and get them into your hands as soon as possible! Have a wonderful day and we will see you in the Nexus! <3

Good afternoon Heroes!

We really appreciate all the feedback you’ve given so far on our plans to introduce Loan talents, so we’re gonna preview a few more!

We already showed off Johanna’s Divine Fortress talent:

  • Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes grant 15 Physical Armor for 3 seconds, stacking up to 60.
  • Loan: Johanna gains 20% maximum Health. Lose 5% of this bonus every time she dies.

Ol’ Jimmy Raynor is getting a new version of Veteran Marksman:

  • Quest: Each time the primary target of Give 'Em Some Pepper is a Hero, permanently increase its damage bonus by .75%.
  • Loan: Gain 60% bonus Give 'Em Some Pepper damage. Every death reduces this bonus by 15%.

Our favorite Demon Hunter, (get rekt Illidan), is springing into action with a new Creed of the Hunter:

  • Quest: Every 50 Basic Attacks against Heroes permanently increases the damage bonus of Hatred by 1%, to a maximum of 5%.
  • Loan: Gain 20% increased Attack Speed. Every death reduces this bonus by 5%.

Finally, our large lord of lard, Stitches, is lumbering to the buffet for a Second Helping:

  • Devour gains an additional charge with a 6 second cooldown between uses:
  • Loan: If Stitches is at max Health after using Devour, he gains a Shield equal to 15% of his maximum Health for 10 seconds. Every death reduces this shield amount by 3%.

The dev team is excited to share these changes (and plenty of others!) very soon. No trademark memeing involved!

P.S. Stitches is getting Fishing Hook baseline at level 13 Ahhhhh freak-out!

=====

Question: How will these display on the talent tracker?

They appear like a normal completed quest that loses progress as you acquire deaths.

===

Are they all realted to death then? I was expecting skillshot loans as well

We started off with tying them to deaths. We had thought about other vectors as well, but didn’t really like the designs of them.

If you have suggestions, feel free to throw them out!

===

How does baseline at lvl 13 work?

Effect is included into every talent choice at the lvl 13 tier?

It’s a baseline “quest”, complete with announcements, that auto-completes once you reach level 13. We felt it was important for the enemy team to know that they now need to watch for big hooks from the shadows.

===

Answer me this, o wise developer:

Is every hero in the game getting loan talents like this & are there multiple for one hero? Are they a permanent thing or will they be like the Nexus Anomaly?

We’re only planning to give this to Heroes where it’s appropriate (sorry Abathur) and we’re approaching this addition as being a permanent one.

This sounds terrible
Why don’t they take effort into making falstad a balanced hero and nova out of wood league

Ye. This wll for sure makes heroes that dont die snowball even harder.

I like that they’re trying new things. I just hope it won’t be a nightmare to balance

At this point, anything that removes Christmas in May is welcome. It’s nice to know there’s at least one person assigned to work on this game from time to time.

Yes, because obviously the entire patch is just these 2 specified changes and nothing else remotely.

Falstad is going to be nerfed, Nova will get Break Neck that deals 100% maximum health of an enemy hero (300 seconds cooldown for the balance™)

I don’t mind it. I wish HotS had solo carry mechanisms like this from the start, allowing you to do really well even if your teammates suck (if you yourself don’t).

So far only Alarak has such a mechanism and it’s only a lv13 talent. Since they removed the Gathering Power type talents from most heroes (think Untouchable, Living the Dream etc)

With the leaked Overwatch theme and some emojis, I think this might means changes for Valla, Johanna, Kerrigan, TLV, Raynor, Rehgar, Stitches and Li-Ming.

As for Johanna changes, I guess it’s a revamp of her lvl 1. Since she doesn’t do anything except waveclear and her ult, it gives her a better edge at the start.

LoL, this sounds terrible. The idea sounds maybe okay in theory, but the fact is that too many people will go for the pick that gives the strongest buff even though conditions to sustain that are not optimal or highly unlikely. Then there will be other people who play way too carefully to keep that power. Gathering power novas who stayed in stealth 70% of battles…

Then there’s the inevitability for you to feel awful the whole game if you fail to keep the buff, or resent the teammates that lose their power.

But at least it’s news? I just don’t know how they’re going to balance this if they’re gonna take another 2-3 months to release another patch.

Yes those 2 things I would love to see.
Why are you so salty about that? not cool

I don’t even understand how I was salty in that comment but sure

From the wording of this post we can assume that there’s more than just these changes, those changes can be anything, Falstad is the hot potato currently, to think they didn’t balance him out is a very poor conclusion.

Sami was only reacting towards your salt, mate. Don’t throw with stones while sitting in a glass house yourself.

Uh, I guess making fun of your frustration over nothing is considered being salty. :+1:

Yes it is I don’t want to express myself now

LoL, come on, it was a little silly to think there wouldn’t be any other changes. You can be extremely disappointed Blizzard has taken this long to not address problems in the game and these loan talents to be bad. If you had just said that without implying there wouldn’t be other changes, you wouldn’t have gotten the snark and many would have probably agreed with you.

So I need to address every change I can think off? Is this is what you are saying

I´m not sure if this is a good idea right now. Seeing new content and experiments being done with new concepts is pretty cool either way.

Rude with Nova hahaha

I don’t really like the sound of it TBH but I’m happy to give it a go :slight_smile: I was against xp globes and tower changes at first but I got used to them and quite like globes.

Personally I think this will have more effect in higher level plays where they die less and smurfs because they can pick it and pretty much dominate way more than they could already.

I hope this a new “anomaly” so can be reversed if we don’t like it.
