Like the Hero, hate the character

What is your favorite hero to play as whose character you absolutely hate?

Imperius is a ton of fun to play, but holy hell (Heavens?) he is such a whiny little :dog:. He has a small handful of clever, funny, or inspiring spawn-in interactions, but most of them are complaining about having to fight with lowly mortals or talking down to his allies.
I actually find myself cringing a bit whenever I hear ones like this:

At least it helps me enjoy the interactions where someone shows him up more, like Johanna’s side of her interaction with him.

Orphea sounds like a pompous, entitled B- even though her reason (upbringing and experiences) may have caused her to be that way. Her British or whatever accent doesn’t help her cause of being fancy-seeming

Diablo and Deathwing talk too much, they made them too cartoony and kiddy.

I understand it’s because the game is supposed to have a humorous side to it, like it’s this big Blizzard theme park (blizzneyland), but it breaks the illusion of their ominousness.

D.Va
Fun to play (in QM) but her personality is very phony Instagram influencer type. Grates on my nerves.

I don’t see it at all, she looks like a beautiful young woman to me. I guess sometimes we see what we want to see.

Depends what deathwing does in lore. I have no knowledge of him. If he’s just a big scary dragon that never talked, I wouldn’t have minded if he just had different roars and cries (dying, respawning, getting hurt). Maybe a few growling lines like: “death and destruction follow my wake.”
“I will be the end of all”
“My team? You can’t even beat me”
“Trying to bind my movements? Foolish mortal”
" Puny thing, out of my way"
“Your death is my pleasure”

What he has now is fine like he says “puny mortals.” The rest of his lines are arrogant but do not really make him seem powerful. It seems more entitled than powerful. —> “You will learn to show respect.”

Stukov is nice to play and his character, but holy Zergs, they made him anime-style. (not the skins, which is good).
Mei has good gameplay, but for me she is too cute. Too much.
Qhira is good to play, but she lacks lore and motivation.

Though i wonder why there is no Mira Han hero, her character is cool.

I understand about some of these heroes interactions that could find them. recently when I play as Yrel which didn’t see any Interactions which Included Mei.

The point of threatening things or people is they don’t have to threaten. People fear them by default because of their actions and reputation. Not words.

The Diablo in D1 or D2 didn’t talk at all, unless you got to his lair and he said a few words in ancient demonic language (which played backwards was funny though).

They only made the prime or lesser evils talk trash during Diablo 3, to the point characters like Azmodan became a joke (he was constantly announcing you his plans).

This is pretty fair. It’s like the golden rule in monster horror movies, the less you show the monster the more scary it is.

Diablo does have one line on his announcer I love. When someone returns from disconnecting: “A fool has returned, kill them!”

I don’t have such hero.
To play hero and enjoy hero, I need to like his character and playstyle in same time. If I don’t like something from those - I don’t play hero.

Mei annoys me with that weebo talk lol.

If only the devs used her Chinese character for her name and spoke full Chinese only. No dub

I don’t hate her, but yea, pretty bland charavterwise and has an unlikeable personality on top of that

Same here. Wish she had a completely new voice for the dragon skin.

Anduin. He is much better in HotS, but in WoW he always struck me as a self-centered little brat, who needed a kick in the pants to grow up. His character decisions in Mists of Pandaria would have made me ground him for a year if I were his parent. As soon as Blizzard killed off Varian and installed Anduin as the King in Stormwind, my guild made it a point to go there and murder him.

But
why Lucio? He gets so happy when he kills people on kill streaks!
He also taunts the other Overwatch characters

Zagara. She doesn’t have a reason to exist in Heart of the Swarm. Or at least I think her being a “proper” antagonist would have been far better.

She is just boring.

On the topic of Zerg Queens
 real Zerg Queens fly!

(Yes, I know, she is technically a Broodmother, not a Queen.)

If you consider Robert Z’dar with a wig beautiful, sure.

I disagree with this sentiment. He doesn’t need to brag about how powerful he is. He already knows that, and he doesn’t care enough about you to tell you.

I freaking love Deathwing’s voice acting in HotS. He just calmly and collectedly explains how the world is going to end by his hands and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. He says it like it’s a simple matter of fact, because to him it is. It’s very different from his WoW voice, which was a lot more “doomsday shouty kill-you-guy!”, and I actually really prefer this.

Mephisto and Baal both talk in Diablo II, in cinematics. Baal is hilarious.

I agree with the first line, but not the second. I just don’t find anyone annoying.

Maybe it comes with being a Murky main.

Exactly. The only “villain” hero’s voicelines I enjoy more in HotS is Mephisto’s, mostly because he always seems to take such pleasure in causing torment. It isn’t shouty or braggy, just delighted.
