0.5 second slow? I mean i know its 90%, but that still seems extremely underwhelming on an already underwhelming ult. Its a level 20 talent. IMO this would be much better if it was something like “the meteors leave behind craters that slow and damage enemies who stand on them”.
The entire heroic itself is stupid outside of Brawl.
They should rework it completely or change how it works. There is never a valid reason to skip Horrify for it (which can be a bigger game changer than ults like Mosh Pit).
At least not requiring it to channel and self root for an eternity was a good step.
The real question is what ultimate could compete with horrify that isn’t broken? Maybe some sort of escape + spell dmg increase?
It’s a perfectly balance heroic. Based on those 10 GM in SL last months. Guldan and Rain of destruction was picked 0%, thus having a 50 % according to the inhouse excel speadsheet report provided by the system on a hots statistic system (the same that you can see at the end of the game) on a daily basis.
The issue isnt that Rain is that bad of an ultimate, Horrify is just super good and borderline broken, i tell people this all the time with similar cases with ults.
A great example of this is with ETC, people always say go mosh pit the other ult sucks. in all truth Stage dive is an amazing ultimate,
- it give’s ETC a global ability which no other main tank has
- giant slow
- pretty nice damage
But the main point is why would you pass up a 4 second AOE stun for that? and the anwser is you wouldn’t but to say Stage dive is a bad ultimate is false.
Rain of desruction is just a little weak in all honesty it could either do more damage or slow by 40-50% at level 10 then it would be a reasonable ultimate, however this doesnt change the fact that a 4 second ranged aoe fear that instant cast is super good
So in summer is Rain of destruction a bad ultimate? yes it could use very slight buffs but its not too far from being balanced
Is horrify a broken ultimate? yes it is, and the only reason we dont see guldan being busted is because most of his damage is not burst like most meta mages and has no defensive abilites or mobility unlike ming and KT, except horrify, the issue i see is guldan is a sustain mage when in a meta of burst mages are basically a necessity it’s kinda bad for him, and it really sucks cause he’s one the heroes i have the most fun playing

Apples to oranges comparison. Stage Dive is about 50x more useful in comparison to Mosh pit than Rain of Destruction is to Horrify.
Stage Dive is even a must pick if the enemy has lots of interrupts and long range stuns/knockbacks.
Better comparison would be Sylv’s old ult to Wailing Arrow. That’s about where RoD stands now.
Making it prioritize heroes would suffice.
It would make it a choice for cases where you can’t make horrify work or when you need more damage.
