Lets go over the noob stompers

We often have many people complaining X hero is OP or something when in fact its simply a lack of experience or they dont know how to handle the situation properly.

I wanted to make a new thread for all the “noob stompers” or heroes that new players will very likely have difficulty facing until they have the knowledge of how to deal with them.

I also wanted to compile many tips from here and put them in the new post for this where new players can come and find what they might be doing wrong or what they could do to improve. ( ill give all due credits for each tips :+1:)

Here is one.
Zeratul
pay attention to his level 7 talent . that talent will tell you how hes likely to engage most of the remainder of the game.
Playing zeratul is all about precise timing , yes he can deal huge explosive damage at time however , he heavily relies on timings to either go in or out. If you mess any of those up through roots or silence , not only will he not have proper means of espace but likely wont even be able to jump in either making him useless until he finds an opportunity due to how fragile he is.

Hard counters : lunara , taunt varian , brightwing, xul

Deathwing
hes a combo oriented hero. On his own , over half the roster can solo him no problem and nearly everyone can escape him by simply walking. When fighting a team that has a Deathwing , pay attention to his teammates since they will be the one enabling his to deal huge damage. Once that is dealt with , bursting down deathwing is no longer and issue and he will have to fly up for another 45 sec.

Hard counters : imperius , greymane , leoric , tychus

I know we have plenty to go over like nova , valeera and many more but id love to get as much imput as possible from our forum :+1:

Qhira and Mei: allow us to introduce ourselves.

I can’t give any advice but since I am new, I can at least say what new players are finding hard to deal with and why, so that members here confident enough to give advice on them can:

  1. Gazlowe; I feel he just gets harder and harder to deal with the more the game progresses. His high utility and resilience makes him able to absolutely destroy a lane or become a dominating presence in team fights. It just seems like he’s the jack of all trades and master of all too at the moment.
  2. Cassia; massive survivability with her armor and very tough to deal with if she’s got at least one other support with her.
  3. Samuro; I’m getting better catching him lately with AOE damage, but in general he feels overwhelming on lanes at the beginning of the game and pursues you mercilessly while your team bashes on his illusions instead of the real deal.

Some general tips, mainly for dealing with gankers:

-Don’t run around with 1/4th of an HP bar. This will prevent gankers from getting an easy kill, especially if its a single hero.

-Pay attention to the minimap. Play cautiously (e.g., don’t go too far out in your lane) if you don’t know where an enemy is.

-Stay with your teammates, especially once you enter the mid-game. A ganker is less likely to try something if there’s a good chance they’ll die.

D.Va
Low elo players don’t focus her pilot form enough right after she uses Self Destruct. They tend to run away from the bomb instead of diving her.

TLV
The enemy will be down 3 levels by the time they realize that they have to deal with them.

Ok, but those 3 are just good right now. Not really a new player thing. So I don’t know that they belong in noob stomper category

I’m just sharing what I get stomped by, assuming other new players go over the same issues I do.

Most divers I would say

I’d say zeratool gets scarier at high elo

Practically all of them?

Like literally, any hero who played well can do decent macro is a hero that new players will have challenges dealing with.

:man_shrugging:

Unless you mean heroes that cause people to be salty/game unfun/et cetera.

I was under the impression a noob-stomper is a hero that can 100-0 out of position players very fast, and as newbies have no idea about proper positioning, they get farmed by said hero 20-30 times per game until they quit or give up the match.

So, DW wouldn’t (in his current state, maybe at release) count, but Zeratul would.

Old Nova was the epitome of a “noob stomper”: New players complained they can’t see her stealth, that she kills other assassins too quickly, and that she makes the game not fun to play for people who just joined / are low MMR.

They changed her kit so much she is barely even picked in QM anymore. So far, she’s the only hero I can remember who was significantly nerfed despite not even being played at all at the professional level.

My personal definition of noob stomper is probably different than most.

I view it as a hero that will be able to easily win against new players.

Pretty much any hero who can macro decent fits that category.

I see noob stomper as a hero that takes a long time to figure out when they are against you.

You end up loosing with just this information in mind: this hero is picked, they were too strong for me to handle.

Like for example, if you recently got into a game and you were against a valla, you learn quickly that her general weakness is she’s squishy. But what would you learn against a samuro? Probably not much in the several times you’re against some. You’d think they’re OP. (I’m not saying samuro is OP, I’m saying he’s trickier to handle for new players)

that is actually some of the best kind of imput we can get here !
who else better to tell us what new players might struggle with at first then a new player ! :+1:

ive looked at those and im honestly suprised, some of those i would had never thought of and i thank you for it , its going to be really useful to povide some tips for them !

i think thats a good example that shows what some of us might find a normal match up vs what a new player might struggle against .

its usually those one because often times its those that gets called OP the fasted.

this ! this is exactly what i meant !

THIS

Gotta disagree with this one champ, Imperius’ main strength is Spear combos and those don’t work against DW for obvious reasons. I’d say Malth is REALLY good against DW though (Espc. Mortality build, thought Soul Rip is fine too)

Since people complain about him constantly, here goes.

Abathur:
Abathur is a unique character, being “everywhere” at once, having powerful locusts, and soaking XP in relative safety. Still, there are quite easy ways to counter him. For example, call out where his locusts are. This means that your team can have an easier time spotting him and force him to move deeper into his own backline, where he won’t be able to body soak or utilize Locusts as effectively. Additionally, try to force teamfights pre-10, as without Clone, teamfights are VERY hard for the Aba Team. One final note, due to Abathur’s unique qualities, countering Abathur dosen’t neccessarily entail killing him. Rather, if you can stay ahead on XP, kill prime hat targets, or agressively take control of merc camps early, you’ll gain a sizable advantage due to Abathur’s lack of a body.

Hard counters: TLV (Can easily soak all three lanes, making it impossible for the Aba team to outsoak and get 10 asap), Murky (can easily keep control of merc camps, leading to sizable disadvantage), Brightwing (who can make your 1.5v1 into a 1.5v2, nulifying the power of Aba to influence solo lane), and Samuro (can easily gib Aba while having above average soak).

the reason i say Imperius vs deathwing is because if imperius talents properly, he can hit deathwing for over 1K per AA and heal himself for over half of that .
which in my book sounds like a pretty hard counter .

Imp has good dmg vs Deathwing but I’d still say Tychus or Leo are best counters to him

Though Greymane is also not bad, the % dmg on 16 plus cursed bullet

Aoe heroes pwn noobs so hard because they NEVER LEARN to not bunch at chokes. You just sit out of vision as DW or KT then drop the 4-man aoe hit when they inevitably file through the choke.

Dw lvl 16 is just so nasty when it procs on a bunched team. Burned flesh bonus dmg on KT? Triple gravity lapse bomb flamestrike thankyouverymuchsir boom.

If you have problems encountering Samuro, select Lunara, Chromie or Tassadar. Shortly, all Heroes that can give you vision on him and can distinguish between him and his shadows can shut him completely down.
Lunara can follow up with leap strike and his relativ low HP gets drained by her DoT.

the Butcher
most new players find it really difficult to handle the Butcher. Keep grouped up and don’t attack him alone. Retreat under your own gate, fort or keep before he can charge you. He will most likely cancel the charge. Against his Ult lamb to the slaughter you can’t do much alone since it silences you. Be sure to keep together so that your healer can cleanse you. The butcher is very vulnerable against percental damage, pick your talents wisely. Every talent that can mitigate damage is mandatory. Be sure to keep his trait (Meat) low. He will be careful until he finishes his level 1 quest and has gathered 200 meat.

I love essay-esque threads like these. Keep it up.

One thing I’d like to note is Orphea. I don’t play multiplayer much so I don’t know a lot but my friends like to QM and Orphea can easily wreck teams. I don’t really have any advice to play against her so I’m just gonna point that out .

On that note, I’m surprised you didn’t say Orphea as a counter to Deathwing. She can really eat through his health and armor quickly and dance circles around him. especially once she gets 16 with either Bonds of Anguish or Dead Magic.
