I’ve been playing since Alpha, I’ve always enjoyed how easy the game was to pickup and play some rounds, but this having to WIN your QM’s or Brawls when you have a hick-up is Bulls**t.
I haven’t once dropped a game on purpose, but over the holidays, with storms and some outages, I’ve had internet issues. This has caused me to be forced into leavers queue. I’ve attempted 8 games now and everyone a loss because 1 or 2 people afk right from the start. I’ve attempted brawl with the same issue. The fact you have to play in the queue is bad enough but then having to win, with 2 people down, and against non-leaver queue opponents who, I’ve looked at rank and mmr and they are way higher than me and my team, is impossible.
The game is no longer fun, I wish they didn’t put this new system in place.
Sorry for the rant but others I’m sure agree.

It’s good to have a system that punishes leavers.
And honestly, it’s kinda sad if you are getting all butthurt over that just because you got unlucky, and now want the system gone (which TOTALLY wouldn’t screw the game by allowing the leavers to ruin other people’s games en masse).

I had to play 4 brawls to clear 1 leaver penalty. Enemy was just better, I didn’t have afkers on my side, so I lost 3 in a row at first.
And I still don’t complain because I don’t think I’m a special snowflake who has special circumstances that require exceptional treatment.
I dc’ed (power went down for 15 minutes), fair and square. I didn’t do it on purpose, but I did DC and mess up the game for 9 other players. So I take the penalty and deal with it.
A big 21st century problem is too many people think they’re unique and deserve special treatment. And exceptions to rules should always be made for them.

I’d rather have all the people who are forced to leaver Queue ragequit the game than give them a free pass to AFK whenever they want.

Leaver’s queue is trash. If they want to punish leavers they could them lock out of the game for some time. Leaver’s queue is the worst. Constantly players that afk or troll. It’s just a die roll if you win the match or don’t. This should be removed finally.
Whenever I’m in Leaver’s Queue, I tend to steamroll. I just play a pubstomper like Valeera and smash faces. As it would happen, most quitters aren’t actually very good at the game. Who’da thunk?

Yes, it is good to have a system, that punish leavers that leaves on purpose, but when a player is hit by a connection problem and dc because of bad weather or connection failure, then the punishment is bs. We can’t control that, when it happens. That’s what why i’m nether against or approve such system.
I hear this a lot, and not just about the leaver’s queue. Whether that is a comfort or just makes it worse is your call.

That’s (probably) why there is some forgiveness mechanic. A random connection failure does not instantly put you in leaver queue (had it happen to me a couple times), it’s only when it happens regularly that the penalties start to apply.
And while it is unfair to punish people for factors outside their control, people do have control over when they choose to play. It does seem reasonable to discourage people from playing when their connection is incapable of reliably supporting a game.

Can confirm. Had connection issues in September, first DC gave me no penalty whatsoever (lost points but not put into leaver queue).
Second dc a week later, and I was made to win 1 Brawl or QM. Cleared it.
Yet another DC at the end of September; Penalty had cleared to 0 (=not put into leaver queue at all)
Fixed my connection, no more issues.
People who have 3-4 leaver games are either massive trolls or play on 56k modems.

But wouldn’t that be worse for people like OP who disconnected because of technical issues.
While mega trolls would just smurf and ruin things while their other troll account cools down?

I think you are absolutely right. It’s an disgusting punishment to rely on your leavers queue teammates instead of being able to redeem yourself alone.
I was in afk queue once as well and it took my 10 games to win 2. And this only because two friends of mine joined.
But I have given up. Those Blizzard developers don’t understand anything about a reporting or matchmaking system and while doing so they ignore the industry trends about how to do it. Blizzard is arrogant and thinks they can still set the standards but they can’t.
Honestly everyone could just ask here.
“I have a leaver queue. Can someone help me?” People will do it.
If our mmr is low free carry for you. You stomp some noobs and get a win

This shouldn’t be a thing. x games in leaver queue as punishment are enough. Not winning x games in leaver queue.
Leaver status adds up

If you just dc for a couple of sec, that doesnt matter. unless its a draft

If you DC and never come back or ragequit/leave a match, for the first time you get unpunished.

If you repeat this ( you must fix your pc or dont play) you get a 2 match leaver stat. if you repeat this it becomes 3 or 4, then more, then a ban
If you behave for a while your status will reset and step 2 ^ applies.
You leave 9 fellow gamers for 20+ min. They are stuck with a AI because that player cant fix their stuff, I think the punishment is justified

That was how it worked in the past.
Most afkers continued afking in leaver queue as well.
This is an aspect that’s ignored a lot. It doesn’t really matter if it was your intent to leave or not. You ruined a game for 9 people - face the consequences.
Please keep leaver queue as is. I had a lot more throwers in games when leaver queue was play only, rather than win. That was about 25% of games someone would throw. Now I really have to think to remember last time I had a thrower.
Also, if you get leaver queue, you made leaving a habit. Spotty connection doesn’t get you in leaver queue (unless it’s real awful and then why are you trying to play online games anyways). You have to quit and not rejoin about 3-4 times in a week to get 1 leaver game. Then every other time you leave this number goes up. I have to DC due to real life occasionally, and I have only had 1 leaver queue. And you know what? Took me 3 games to clear.

Just play a brawl, at some point the ARAM RNG will give you a winner.
