The problem with the system is that it often makes the game worse for the players is it supposed to be protecting. Instead of protecting players who don’t want to give up, it encourages players who get tilted to throw a match purposefully rather than leave. It also discourages players from doing the rational thing when they’re getting upset by the game, which is stepping away from it.
