Oh what, it wasnt a rage job quit after people were unhappy with another IP hero?
You mean she had a job lined up and just stayed until her final major project was done like a normal person?
The people on the forums who actually thought she raged quit because Qhira had a 50/50 like/dislike ratio on youtube should realize how silly they are and how little they understand the real world.
Wait, wait, wait… People who work for a living are normal people?
They’re not all drinking all the kool aid about how where they work is the besterest place to be ever!?
Im glad she found a new place to work. From my pov, i can understand why she went working to Riot. LoL only has OC character in it, so whatever they come up with next, noone will be upset…like in Hots, where you design a hero and upset 4/5 of the players
More importantly. She’s free to design whatever she wants. No restrictions. Being an artist and having your creativity stifled is really hard. Being able to only reproduce something that already exists isn’t as exciting or motivating.
And according to the forums, only previous Blizzard employees were allowed to create new stuff. Current employees are committing sacrilege when doing so.
There are opportunities to create new characters, etc. at Blizzard. HoTS was specifically marketed as a MOBA where Blizzard IPs are meshed together in a brawler though.
It’s easy to see why people would be annoyed that someone completely new not even flushed out in the Nexus lore just appeared in HoTS.
I don’t think animators (even a “senior” one) can just design “whatever they want” at Riot…
I mean, they do get a certain level of self-expresion, i imagine, but I also imagine they have to, I don’t know, animate the characters that they were assigned?
Even if character design and animation are done by the same people, I think a big part of it is probably dictated by game design.
Well, I’m just speculating. Either way, I too hope she does well over there.
