Kind of. There’s a sidequest in Hawezar where you help a crusader’s apprentice find her master. You find her body, and upon taking the armor the crusader sheds her old name and renames herself Johanna. If you don’t know crusader lore, they always have an apprentice, and when the crusader dies the apprentice abandons their name takes on their master’s. Granted, the body has black hair instead of blonde, but that could just be Blizzard being lazy and not making a unique model for one short quest.
Just thought that was a fun nod I came across. I haven’t noticed any references to any of the other canonized D3 heroes yet, but I’ll keep looking.

The master you recover the armour from was likely the Diablo III (HotS) Johanna’s apprentice that she adopted after the story of Diablo III, as some of her dialog suggested she intended to adopt an apprentice. Given how ludicrously powerful the Diablo III Johanna was, because she was a Nephilim, it would not make sense for her to die in that situation to some regular monsters. The Diablo III Johanna likely died due to some other causes, possibly even natural or side effects of the exposure to 7 evils or the powers of death.
I played Diablo III. You can die to quill rats.

This is the most likely case. Diablo IV takes place fifty years after Diablo 3, which at that time Johanna was around 25-35 years of age I would reckon (Valla and Li-Ming were in their early twenties) which would mean that if she did survive until Diablo IV she would be at minimum 70-75 years of age if that is indeed her. Being a crusader she would fall in battle sometime after the events of Diablo 3 and may have even been corrupted to an extent requiring her apprentice to finish her off (not an uncommon theme for previous heroes to wind up being the next generation villains) with said apprentice found in that quest.
The two most likely that may be seen in Diablo IV are Li-Ming and Valla. Li-Ming was I think just turning twenty by the time Tyrael swanton bombed Tistral Cathedral from the High Heavens and Valla I think was around 23 in age. So those two may still be around.

Wait, then how the hell is Meshif still alive?

Eh, humanity is all over the place when it comes to how long people can live. It depends on how much of that nephalem juice is flowing through your veins I suppose. There is a side quest in Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls where you throw hands with a very bitter Nephalem who has been around for, if I recall correctly, a couple centuries while looking like someone in their mid to late thirties. Adria was an old hag in Diablo 1 but is looking pretty good by the time of the events of Diablo 3. That may have been a blessing from Diablo himself though.
Diablo 3 lore pretty much hinted that Nephalem were springing up all over the place and would live a long time, yet here we are with another demon crisis in Diablo IV. Not even the Prime Evils or Lesser Evils. It’s more or less a custody battle. Should have been a weekend night out for the nephalem from Diablo 3, yet they are not around.

need me her ageing cream…
I mean I’ll take that too I suppose
Li-Ming is canonically 20 years old at the beginning of Diablo III. She is a magic prodigy from Xiansai who made her studies in Caldeum.
Valla’s age is not so easy to determine. It’s said she joined the demon hunters in 1270 fifteen years before the events of Diablo III. When she joined the hunters at an age of 10, she could be 25 round about.
I have a feeling Li-Ming would shave a few years off that canon! Ming passive aggressively disses Jaina for using those “old spells”, there is no way is she admitting she is 70!

D4 gets a 5.5 score on metacritic. They couldn’t even make it their self imposed 6.5…
different games have different teams with different goals.
Granted, you tend to overgeneralize too many things as is, but the 6.5/10 us a joke for HotS and in case you haven’t noticed, Diablo is not HotS.

She does that with Kael’thas as well and being that the Nexus is kinda-sorta like some purgatory/afterlife thingy no one ages. Chromie actually makes a point of commenting on reminding her if she starts repeating lines which while a joke kinda hints at it being a Ground Hog day experience for everyone.

I couldn’t agree more about the score. Diablo is a good indicator that the company has declined noticeably since HotS was introduced. A drop from 6.5 to 5.5 is not good.
As far as generalizations, I usually find people who don’t like them have low pattern recognition.
considering the lack of useful observations, details for your conclusions, and a myriad of other issues, what you ‘find’ does’t mean much else to anyone else but you, and confirmation bias.
Pattern recognition is just “IQ”, so you’re doing a round-about way of trying to claim the same thing, but with less effort.
It’s like admitting:
“I can just ignore what anyone says, and assert that I"m right regardless of counter-points, evidence, or pithy quotes”
Holy crap Xen, stop arguing with this guy. It’s a troll. It’s a blatant, obvious troll. Ignore him, and move on.

Exactly and that’s where generalizations are drawn from. Pattern recognition. Thankfully truth is detached from emotion.
HotS user review score is actually 6.3. Took a glance at reviews even if it ment risking getting the stupid. User arg gave HotS whopping 5 in 2015.
The prices in the Blizzard shop are outrageous. $10 for a hero? Skins for up to $15?
How the turntables…
Second this. I said to Xen a month ago to stop throwing their pearls at this individual. Xen is an articulate and high effort poster, and I feel that effort is completely wasted in this situation.

- If you play badly, sure. Lore wise Johanna did not play badly, she helped beat both prime evil Diablo and angel of Death Mathael.
- If you are fighting GR 80+ quill rats, sure. But each of these normal enemies is tougher and more damaging that all evils combined by multiple times! These are not factored into lore.
Closest you can get to lore is maximum torment level. Even that ends up trivial with the right builds with my understanding being that HC players regularly run it.
