There you go… so you DO understand after all

Again many people from objective point of view can see this thinks as negatives

How is it a negative if everyone who plays the game is fine with it?

Do you not understand that this game is played by the minority? Thus people who enjoy these mechanics are in the minority.

Which part of this is hard to understand seriously?

We’ve established that we’re talking about people who play the game.
So they’re the minority of what?

People who like these mechanics are in majority within the game’s players.

No matter which game you pick, there are always less people who play it than people who don’t. So saying the players are a minority based on that is a logical fallacy.

Wow are you so lacking in understanding simple concepts?

Imagine the entire population of MOBA players in the world. The overwhelming majority of them play League of Legends. Then there’s also a smaller but still significant portion that plays DOTA 2. And then there’s the tiny little fraction that plays HotS. So that is the MINORITY that enjoys the whole no last hitting, shared xp, no items and farm mechanics that HoTS has.

DO YOU GET IT???

I dont know if you dont get it. I read that hots had in camparison to lol at some point 2018 20% of lol population. lets just assume its 20%. If you change hots to a lol clone assume 50% at least(10%) quite the game and you get in exchange 5% of lol population and 1% because of newcomer. you still lost 4% population. this 4% would be for hots like 20% population.
But you are saying it as if all moba player ar waiting for hots to clone that last hitting gold grindfest to just play hots. have you numbers that the “Moba guys” will all run to hots ? to my mind you are speaking about the minority of the minority what is even less than the hots playerbase.

HAHHAHHAHA 20% HAHHAHAHHAHA

Where did you read that rubbish from. The number is closer to 5%

Nice math. But we don’t need to work on these kind of arbitrary assumptions.
If you were around since Beta, you would know that TONS of people tried out this game. The main complaints back then, and which still ring true today, was that the design of the game was not appealing. When people heard that Blizzard was gonna make a MOBA, everyone was so excited. It’s only when they tried it and saw how it was designed with shared XP, no items and so casualized from a traditional MOBA that they shat on it.

Just imagine the same design that HotS has now. Shared XP, no last hitting, no laning, no gold, no items, no warding… BUT, none of Blizzard characters, background and lore. All original heroes.

On the other side, a traditional MOBA style but with Blizzard lore and heroes from the Blizzard universe. This was what people thought they were gonna get and were extremely excited about. This game could have been a big success, but they went too far in trying to reinvent the wheel, and now it’s nothing but a massive failure and already in maintenance mode in its 3rd year. GG.

@YourFather

Noone complains about the in-game experience, the main complaints are about the matchmaker, have been, and probably will continue being so… Yes there are some threads here and there about the shared Exp but that’s like rare compared to matchmaker (and report system as #2), the vast majority of complains (and rightfully so) come form those two overall

DUH. People who are already playing this game obviously won’t complain about the design. These are the people who actually enjoy the design of the game, why would they complain about it???

Do you understand what is this “majority” and “minority” that is being referenced?

Apples and Oranges lol, it’s like saying there’s not enough people playing Volleyball cause they can’t kick the ball otherwise many Football players would join in lol

No ofense, don’t think your statement holds ground… Yes there’s lack of “carry potential” for the game but that’s also good, what isn’t is the matchmaker and the way how the player is complete out of control to type of ally players they can get and not enough information about allies during drafting phase (somewhat)

Mainly that is the problem, you can’t know if someone has different idea/playstyle than you do, and when that happens chances are you’ll get in an off-phase with some of the teammates and will lead to a frustrating loss, itemizations/last-hits/personal-exp and stuff not necessarily would make the game better though

Except that the biggest feedback from people who didn’t like HotS is precisely that. If you ever bother opening your ears to listen, you would know this already. It’s been said since Beta from people who tried the game and decided it wasn’t for them.

Problem is, everyone here just likes to insists the design of the game is great. Of course, that’s an opinion. Your opinion is that it’s great, that’s why you play the game! Just be aware of the opinion of the people who DON’T ENJOY the game as it is. And that for every 1 person who finds it great and enjoys it, there’s probably around 8 people that tried it and hated it.

Way back in 2014 Heroes entered Alpha. It had been announced in 2010 and went through many changes during that time. That announcement made me incredibly hyped. Before that many people are into Dota 2 and they found it amazing game in Dota but many blizzard fanboys craved the Blizzard universes in MOBA. For many people is a mix of both was a dream come true.

What they found in Alpha was a barebone game with little to no depth. It was extremely simple, extremely limited and quite repetitive. Obviously the Alpha of a game will always be rough, there was a lot to that aspect, but some of the core changes Blizz made to the MOBA genre were iffy. The multiple maps, map objectives, abathur, talents were all new and very promising. The void from removing gold and items was however still there.

Most players saw the Alpha/beta/release and found the game to lack too much depth compared to Dota and LoL. The idea of this game having an esport scene was mind blowing. It’s generally accepted by the community that the game never took off, but how come?

We constantly hear on this forum that it’s Blizz’s fault for not advertising the game well enough, and that if only more people tried the game then they’d see how fundamentally better it is and they’d instantly play it! Despite Blizzard pouring millions of dollars into advertisement and tournaments (Heroes of the Dorm created entirely to promote the game to new players), somehow people are convinced that it’s the issue.

Have any of y’all stopped and think that maybe the small playerbase is due to lack of interest? Maybe YOU have a burning hate for last hitting and items, but clearly most MOBA players love them. Maybe they did try HotS and didn’t see 1/10th of the depth they saw in Dota and LoL, no matter how fun YOU found the game.

And how could an esport scene possibly exist on a game that does everything to discourage taking the lead, building an advantage, and crushing your enemy? Every mechanics in HotS is built to keep the game as even as possible, you’re constantly tied to your team and have so little control over what happens. The lack of competitiveness and depth werent ever suited for a pro scene no matter how much money you throw at it.

My point is that HotS, its core concept of a Blizzard MOBA, with different maps and talents and crazy heroes had so much potential . Since day 1 of Alpha Blizzard fans are been angry at Blizzard for making this game instead. And now it’s dead. And y’all have that pikachu face, like everyone telling you “her this game lacks depth and competitiveness” were just idiots.

Uhm that’s a big + not -.

That is the most opposite and BS view possible.
In analogy to that, football (soccer) is not a proper sport, because it keeps even chances of scoring for both teams throughout the game. It would definitely be a much more proper sport, if the losing team had to bench 1 player every time they missed a goal. Yep, steamrolls are much more fun to watch than intense even matches. /s

Some people are really detached from reality…

the absolute feeling of pointlessness in the early-game and lane phase in HotS feels super bad. It always felt like no matter how much I do, how many times they die, how many towers/forts I knock down early nothing of it matters, it’s just whoever wins those couple of mid-late game team fights and big objective to roll it down a lane and end that wins.

I love this guy: defines what is minority and majoriy, says others only like opinions they agree with, then abuses people calling them dense.

Super convincing, lol.

Well, i Havent played Dota .

But hav a frend who does play it.

And how I understand,
In dota if the team is like
1 pro + 4 ultra noobs vs 5 relatively decent players
the team with one pro player will win, coz he wil level up much faster than his team n enemy team and in late game will just keep bashing the enemy n win

in HOTS
1 pro + 4 ultra noobs vs 5 decent player
there is 1% chance tht the team with 1 pro will win,

no matter how good he is, the other 4 wil pull him down,
lower overall team xp (coz the entire teams levels up together)
no capitalizing in team fights
no proper coordination and follow up on opportunities

HOTS is no one-man show

in other games, if one player plays realllly good, n others dont, he can carry them n win on his own,

HOTS is different, its more a TEAM game, n thts wht frustrates ppl more when they get deaf n blind team mates,

and thats the reason why the interest in watching the game or playing solo league is not existing, at least for me.
You have not enough impact to make great plays and stand out. If you have 4 no brainers its gg, even with 3 or one afk/troll its most of the time lost.
I’d rather watch someone who make great plays and carry a game and see that the person is skilled (and maybe learn from him) than just one or two good lategame teamfights. And like one other here said. The early and lategame feels pointless, its all decided in a good lategame teamfight

thats not entirely true,

if your tank n healer is operating at mid experience (50% , with ultra noob being 0% n pro being 100% , just to get an idea),

if your tank is 50% , n ur a pro (100%) u can make impact reallly well,

the issue is when u get ppl with 10 20 30% capability,

n how i see it, just having common sense and basic know how about the game can get you up to 50% game play. with tips n watching videos, u excel more,

landing a tyrande stun or malf root right BEHIND diablo when he charges n stuns a hero on the wall = something tht doesnt need education or skill,

ur diablo is supposed to flip the hero bak, n ur root or stun will land on him perfectly, tht u learn from videos n tips, n can then apply,

but if im playing tank , in the middle of enemy tank n 2 assasins at 20% 30% health, n im soaking and making way for my mele asasin (whose at 80% health),
and instead of engaing, he starts running back bcoz enemy is 3 (1 tank 2 assasins all below 25% healthpool) n we r just 2 (me the tank n him the assasin, him being 80% health) , ,wht do u expect?

some ppl think tht if they die in the game, they get a scar on their body forever,
on the other side, some think tht dying in this game gives them an extra year to live in real life,

i mean, u just need to b a bit in the middle, not in either side of extreme stupidity,
