It's too expensive, Blizzy (paceful topic)

For more details ad the new bundle for ALL blizzard games, here. please, this topic is written very calmly and peacefully, let’s keep this kind of tone, thanks.

I am a gamer of several Blizzard titles, and in theory this new mixed content pack should excite me, right? Mmmh no, dear Blizzard. it is a decidedly “wrong” price.

when I bought a Blizzcon ticket, the price went to support not only the exclusive content, but also the live event, the technicians and collaborators who were involved to give me that experience on stage and where to see the reactions of the audience, almost like if I myself were in the audience. but this time we are talking about an event that has been promised as free, precisely because the costs to organize it (online) are much lower than the stage.

The offer of the various packs is also questionable. why should I buy the essential or epic pack when the “real stuff” is in the classic price range of the virtual ticket, the heroic pack? you’re not really giving me a palatable choice, just the one right choice. that price is definitely TOO high for the actual organization costs of Blizzconline, it is definitely a high price tag than what is offered in this Blizzard event.

I don’t know if this post will ever reach the developers, but I invite anyone (especially those who play more Blizzard titles) to let people know PEACEFUL if they think that the “special offer” is too unbalanced with what has been in the past years.

Thanks.

I haven’t much to add, I think your criticism is fair and measured. This feels like price gouging all things considered, the prices are simply too high for the content you receive and the fact it’s in support of a virtual event.

I bought the Essentials version since I only play Starcraft 2 and HoTS. The other 2 versions are far too expensive for what ultimately amounts to in-game stuff I will literally never use.

Would have much rather paid $80 for a real world trinket/statue/display item to add to the Blizzard shelf in my office.

I am in a different situation in that I play a lot of WoW (too much, maybe), and belong to a progression raiding guild. Because of this, I have a ton of gold in that game, that can be used to purchase Blizzard store items, including the bundles. I am also a bit of a mount collector in WoW, so for me, it was well worth the purchase price to get that mount. The artwork and animation on it is fantastic, and to me at least, well worth the price.

Of course, the price was paid in time that I would have spent playing WoW anyway, but this just goes to show that the value of anything digital is subjective, so opinions on whether or not something is worth it will always vary.

I would like to outline the virtual stuff with my own opinions within.

Essentials pack - $20

WoW - Dragon Welp pet - lame recolor.
HOTS - Tracer’s cinematic OW cycle - ok kool.
OW - Icon and spray of 30th Anniversary and 5 lootboxes - really?
SC 1&2 - Portraits - sorry no.
Hearthstone - 10 card packs. - probably filled with dupes.
Diablo - a pet and portrait (coming soon) - let me guess…Blizzard Bear.

Pet, hots mount, icon, spray, portraits, cards, pet, portrait.

Heroic pack - $40 - includes Essentials pack

WoW - Blizzard Bear mount - ok looking, wouldn’t ride it ever.
Diablo 3 - wings (coming soon)
OW - Rienhardt skin - looks like Raynor - kinda kool actually.
HS - Random legendary card - no idea the value

mount, wings, skin, card - for $20 more.

Epic pack - $60 - includes Essentials and Heroic

WoW - 30 days game time - worth $15.
HS - 5 golden card packs - no idea how valuable these are.
OW - 3 golden lootboxes - each grants a legendary, expect dupes!
Diablo 3 - Transmog set (coming soon again) - It’ll look lame or I have no effing clue…

30 days, 5 golden card packs, 3 golden lootboxes, transmog set - for $20 more.

For the items offered, they seem to value close to the asking price for each tier.

Essentials is so lame that $20 is a waste.
Heroic gets you stuff that many would actually value.
Epic is just plain :poop: for the asking price of $20 more.

Knock off maybe $10 from Heroic, and I think that would justify getting it.

my father dislikes buying virtual items even if theyre dirt cheap. hes correct for most cases since virtual stuff are more risky

How much did the tickets cost back then?
I remember not buying the virtual ticket, and I feel weird reading it was $230 for the most basic one.

Just want to add, there are many things that cost the same, regardless of the physicalities. Trailers, tournament earnings…
… While other stuff is cheap: no hotel rooms for tournament participants.

Well he’s right. It’s basically money wasted

$40 then $50

Ouch.

It contains items for too many games I don’t play.
So even putting away differences in income, other items and thus perceived value, it isn’t lucrative.

$10, the price of the pet and mount each can buy you a game.
$20 for a mount less so.
Then $20 for server access to a game I otherwise paid for and costs $15.

At least they make the decision easy!

exactly, a very correct summary. I essentially don’t feel like I have any better choices than the Heroic, I don’t see a reason to find a “privilege” in being able to choose which price range I want to spend. Does buying the most expensive one literally mean giving Blizzard a birthday present for his 30th birthday? while he’s going to save a lot of money by not organizing (rightfully) an event on stage? it’s debatable as a “community celebration”.

I suppose it is wrong to claim to have free content only by connecting on a specific day (if I remember correctly, it happened for Widowmaker Sarah Kerrigan skin for 20 years of starcraft), but perhaps I would have liked a more optimal “fidelity” methodology, more close to the community and less “expensive”.

I don’t know, for example the more blizzard products you have in your account (and a lot of hours for F2P) the higher the discount for this pack. because you prove that you are actually a fan of the company’s products, and not the usual smurfer with a lot of money.

You said it pretty well. We don’t have much of a choice. Blizz knows people want mounts, skins, and wings. I’m actually shocked they didn’t place the Heroic stuff in the Epic tier. They probably also know that $60 is too much for what they are offering overall, since Epic is just LOOTBOX tier.

Personally, I would’ve had each item be sold individually with a small mark-up, being that this is only obtainable during the anniversary event.

I can see why it seems like such a bad bargain for those who only play HotS and maybe SC2, both of which are f2p right now, but the WoW mount is simply outstanding. The level of detail on the model, and especially the mounting animation shows an elaborate amount of artisanship that to me was worth the price.

To be fair, it is easier for regular WoW players to purchase things like this, as our in-game currency can be converted to store credit. I can see why it feels like they put more effort into those rewards.

Considering previous virtual tickets sold for $49 that is a $10 price jump… But, none of the other Blizzcon rewards gave you a month of WoW time (Which is $15 alone) and packs with guaranteed legendaries.

I’ll probably end up being it because I buy this garbage regardless. I have my Shadowlands CE sitting on top of my dresser unopened because I don’t have interest in playing WoW if I can’t raid, and I heard Shadowlands sucks anyway. I haven’t redeemed it because I don’t want to waste my free 30 days.

I’m hoping I get this developer position that I interviewed for so that $60 looks like chump change

Sure, it’s affordable.

I’m just comparing the value.
I consume a typical sim DLC in a month. They are 5-15€ each.
I collected a few RTS games recently going 10-20€ each at full price. 50% discount.
Heck, a month of fun in WoW is 13€.
In comparison, I can get my 170th mount for 10-20€.

So, even if I want to burn money or support the industry, I have better options.

That being said, for devoted fans it’ll be worth it. (Quite) a couple years back I purchased the Fey Dragon + Teldrassil Sapling combo, and I was quite happy having them. Until I started feeling paid to win and using an Ulduar mount.
