is there a way to disable chat? been playing a bit now and i swear its more toxic than league. the moment your not doing amazing your team is at your throat for sucking and im sick of people crying in quick match

You can turn off your teamchat in options—> social

That or, well at the start of every game a message pops up that gives you the option to turn it on or off with a click.

You’re right, it only has a popup for voice. If you have chat disabled it will have popups for both. :slight_smile:

Oh yeah, I played with chat off for years. Every game there would be a prompt to enable it. I finally turned chat on, because I thought it would help to strategize with the team more.

However, it’s rarely productive. I might just turn it back off. Pings are usually sufficient.

Apparently reporting people for “ping spam” counts as someone posted a long time ago they were silenced for excessive ping spam. So there you go, you can still report with chat turned off. :wink:

Only if you have the chat disabled before you start the game. I have it almost always turned off for QM games as people can be really gross there, so I got used to seeing this message. I keep it on for Ranked of course.

Imagine if I play TLV and ask my team to go bot as 4, but all of them disabled chat.

You have a good point, I usually have my chat on these days until people start being counterproductive in chat. The problem with your example is you can ask people to do something so elementary, but even if they do have chat on they may not cooperate, especially if it means leaving brawling in mid lane! Can’t have that can we. :wink:

This is why we can’t have nice things. We turn off chat to avoid the people who don’t care just so we can have some semblance of a good time.

Im not sure where you are finding these toxic people, because in my rank/mmr/whatever they are incredibly rare unless you are truly playing badly, very obviously the worst(can happen when trying out heroes you don’t play, especially the harder ones, for me Orphea). Sometimes if i die on a long timer i will start asking what the next hero will be, sometimes we then chat, sometimes it’s dead silence like i never typed anything o.O.

Not once has HoTs come even remotely close to me in toxicity to LoL, not once has someone flamed me from the first minute of the game for absolutely no reason and then pretended hes some kind of god player.

why not just mute the person that’s toxic in the chat? why disable the chat for the whole team? what if only 1 person is toxic but the other 3 are fine? how will you communicate if everyone is muted while not all of them are toxic?
