Is QM bugged or was blizzard lame and just removed the rules?

Your supposed to get a tank and healer on both sides all the time but for the past couple of days I have been getting 3 warrior comps such as 3 range dps and one tank against 3 warriors with out a healer on both sides. what’s going on ? Did blizzard really take it out or something ? I will play tank my self but please give me a healer. I don’t want to play games were were playing against 3 warriors and a kael’thas or me playing a tank without a healer.

If blizzard did do something with the matchmaking to limit it then they need to revert it and if QM matchmaker is actually bugged then they need to fix this issue. games were fine when you had a guarantee tank and healer on both sides so why just remove the feature ? (if they did that is) I don’t know if matchmaking is bugged or they changed something.

People startet crying about queue time so they reverted the change

Are you series ? que times weren’t even that long unless you were in a party of at least 3. they need to put the changes back in because how you gone do something that actually make quality of games better and remove it ? I rather wait 3 to 5 min then to have a 25 min game that’s a waste of time. blizzard has no since of pride anymore and people complained about terrible team comps but when blizzard fix it they wine and cry about 3-5 min que times ? which que times were at least 3 min solo. their was no reason for them to remove the changes and they need to stop listening to crybabies. I think i’m just done because it seems that at this point this game isn’t going to be fixed.

It’s like when some people get abused for so long, they kinda get used to it :expressionless:

God damn this mode was this games biggest mistake. They should call it “training mode” at least.

No worries, draft modes are still there so nothing lost there!

The reversion was mostly aimed at newer players by the sounds of it. I started the game about 2 weeks before the changes went live and after they did, I was seeing queues of 500-600 seconds on tanks and support, only to be thrown into games worse than before the changes.

This is because at low levels, people only have access to 1 or 2 heroes for these roles, and with mirror match protection…it just didn’t work.

The smart move would have been to relax the requirements for lowbies. But…

As someone who felt forced to play almost nothing but Tank and Healer for the week after the change just to have a reasonably fast game, I am happy to see them get rid of that system.

Long wait times in the “casual” mode is unhealthy for the game and would lead to a huge drop off in the player base. There are already two other modes that cater to composition based game-play, a third is not needed.

so teaching new player bad habits at the start by removing the changes ? that is no excuse. The excuse of blizzard removing the changes is pure BS.

Bad habits? New players usually can only choose free week heroes. So for the role of tank, you might have Muradin and the 1 or 2 tanks on free week. Now the game prevents two of the same hero from appearing in a game except for the new hero on release - meaning that the system hits a bottleneck when trying to pair tanks.

It was a good idea, but implemented badly. It really should only kick in at level 200 or something, where there are more heroes available.

It was done because new players were suffering from it, also minor regions.

Easy fix; remove mirror match protection from quick match. There’s no reason to have it in quick match. It’s perfectly fine to have new players being stuck to 1 or 2 heroes in a specific role because that’s how they learn. If they want to play more heroes they can play more games to unlock them. That’s literally the game.

It was making wait times too long for QM. There are not enough tank and healer players for every team to get one in a reasonable amount of time. So they changed it to not have such strict match making requirements to get a game started. It still tries to match each team with a tank and healer though for like the first few minutes.

Exactly this; there simply isn’t a big enough pool of players at each skill level playing each role to be able to get you in a game quickly. Unfortunately everybody wants to play an assassin and nobody wants to wait 5 minutes for a game. Personally I’d much rather wait upwards of 15-20 minutes for a solid game, but sadly I don’t think my opinion is common. Quick queue garbage games vs slow queue amazing games; former wins sadly.

Yup. That would have been a sensible way to start this off.

Unfortunately sensible and Blizzard do not always go hand in hand.

And I would rather get a 30 second queueue, instead of waiting for a balanced team.

Besides, there are still the draft modes. You can go there, if you want a balanced comp.

A lot of the time I want to play a tank or specialist. Before the changes were reverted, I could barely play either.

Who cares???

You’re telling me the alternative is better? Getting into a game quick but all 5 people on your team are mages and the enemy has 5 gankers to counter you all?

“We want more even matches!”
-Introduce QM rules that require a tank and healer
“Ew these queues times are too long, this game is trash now”
-Removes QM rules to shorten queues times
“Ugh, this MM is terrible and the comps are one-sided!”

The developers can’t win either way. They went to the lesser of two evils to get people into games quicker.

Guess I’ll link the post for completeness sake.

Notable part is this:

personally I’m indifferent to the change overall, though I do have a preference towards better comps.
