I was planning to play LiMIng as my next ranged assassin so I went to check the hotslog for Li-Ming on Storm League as a reference and…
3 weeks of data:
Master: 44% winrate
and if I included Master and Diamond, the win rate will be around 47%
While Jaina being top with 66% at Master, Kael with 60% at master.
Why is the gap was so huge between them and LiMing?

Ming is rather volatile (shocker), and her damage is so general purpose that her actual role ends up being very niche.
She mostly shines on maps with very strong map objectives and in situations with a tank with a lot of kill securing CC and/or a very aggressive bruiser.
Also, don’t take force armour. Ever. Thing has consistently well below 40% winrate. It’s a little hard to glean the stats because it’s so underpicked, but Aether Walker is actually the only talent that comes close to power hungery for win rate. It’s better than people realize.

Li-Ming is a powerhouse if you play her correctly and with a good comp. She puts out insane amounts of damage, and people tend to just waltz right into her giant balls of doom. She can poke from afar, and get resets galore with Calamity. Mm. Ming. <3

Li Ming, like Genji, is a reset hero. If your team isn’t getting kills, you aren’t getting resets, and she loses a lot of her value.

She provides more value in coordinated teams and really needs someone who can finish the enemies that she manages to chunk down fron afar

anyone getting close to 25% HP gets disintegrated. Dunno what there is not to like here. She is my most played mage.

yes she is, very much weak

Li-Ming can make enormous damage but it’s too easy to block her skillshots via second targets. She’s good but not everywhere.

If you beg to differ. Might wanna stay you say you beg to differ.
Cause she’s right. Li-Ming is a monster in coordinated team.

Would advice playing her with E build.
W feels safer, but you can carry more with E build
She’s capable of dealing high damage and good poke which are skillshots, so best to practice aim if you want to be decent with her. Low winrate compared to Jaina and Kael because the two have CC into their base kit: slow and stun respectively. Mingy’s CC is in the form of a Heroic - Wave of Force. They clear waves and mercs better than Mingy.
She shines when played with a coordinated team that has CC to help set up kills to maximize her trait value of resets. Don’t let these deter you from playing Li-ming tho, she’s very rewarding when all goes according to plan. Just keep trying and have fun!

Her wave clear is sub-par and she requires a pretty high level of mechanical skill to be anything more than a B-team Poke hero.
That being said, once you get good on her she is amazing. I used to play her almost excessively in our 5-man team about a year and a half ago. She is amazing with coordinated damage, and I would often kill their entire team in a matter of 2-3 seconds in a flurry of resets. This is extremely hard to do in an uncoordinated game though.

She’s my favourite mage hero and my second highest leveled hero. She’s great fun, nothing comes close to getting a 4-5 kill streak in a team fight with her.

She’s still a monster in the right hands - even constant nerfs couldn’t keep her out of competitive play. Bad drafts (like vs Anub) can really mess her up though.

Actually she is a solid pick vs Anuberak to counter Web with Laser. Same can be said with her knock back ult against Mosh Pit.

She is the kind of ranged hero who need to step in and risk things to get reset and destroy teams.
Problem is lots of players play her like backseat poke hero wirh orb build and complain they do nothing with her unless the rest of their team outright carry them.

Because she is hard skill shot hero, easy doge skill, kael and jaina easier skill shot than she

I guess it would be rather difficult to play LiMing (solo) as well as other mages when even Master rank team wasn’t able to play her well.
Anyways, thanks for the responses about Li Ming.
This. Once you learn the power of her Blink build you never go back to Orb build.
